Does anyone else absolutely hate their job???

I've been a butcher since I was 17(I'm almost 26 now) and I hate it so much I can barely stand going to work everyday and my attuide(sp?) is shit.

The money is okay, but the hours and not having weekends off blow. What makes it worse is that I used to work in a nice store in a average, middle class nice neighborhood.

But due to lack of help I had to be transfered to a trashy store in the ghetto. which is located right across the street from a food stamp/welfare office and a free clinic(so you can imagine the type of trash that comes in the store).

Anyone else hate their job as much as I do????

It depends on the day. I don't know how anyone can really love corporate America. There are parts of my job that I enjoy like dealing with people, achieving good results, producing profits. But then there is plenty of bullshit as well, like being bonused off of budgets that were created for 2002 in October that don't reflect the current mix of business, and corporate being unwilling to change them so that management suffers financially as a result.

We're also now bound to give 4% increases to all employees and to try and recruit and retain quality people who are already underpaid, and then get a 4% increase. That blows too.

I used to f'ing detest my last job. I would piss and moan all day at the office, huff and puff the entire hour ride home. Then when I got my mail, there would be a fat commission check, so I would stop bitching.

Those days are thankfully over.

The only thing that sucks is when I was in the grocery store today trying to pick up food, the reality hit me that the homeless man that I had just seen on the road a few minutes before, made more than me today, and everyday until I find a new one... well, my cart got much lighter.

Thanks, I have been thinking the same thing(about life being too short). I've wasted way too much of my youth on this thankless job.

I'm planning to go back to school in april if all goes well. I can't stand working my ass off at a job I hate and then watching these lazy lowlife motherfuckers come in to my store and abuse welfare.

Let's see.... standing all day, dealing with dipshit customers while being looked down at by most of them! Yay! I don't have a set schedule and rarely have weekends off. I supposedly get 35k a year, but that's gross, and including all benefits. And now the overnight and daily report (start at 5am) shifts will be coming. And I have a college degree. I'm a fucking loser.


...now, anyone dare try to compete with me on this one? Because I can break out the list of reasons I hate my job if I have to.

My job is cool. A bit dull, but still better than anything else I could be doing right now.

My day consists of maybe 30 minutes of actual "work." The rest of my time is spent flirting with girls in my immediate area, or just shooting the shit with my co-workers. I also eat quite a few donuts and occasionally play on the internet.

If I had to do this the rest of my life I'd go insane. This is just a temp thing while I go to shool. Still, it's nice to by getting $16/hr to sit on my ass all day.

Try working a job where you work about 8 to 10 hours 6 days a week delivering tons and I said TONS of water in East LA. Now that my friend can be terrible at times.......your back will hurt like heck too.

I'm not at all keen on my job but it's only a job. This isn't my career. Once I decide what to do with my degrees I can wrap up a few more years of school and hopefully do something I'm passionate about (likely in health care since my interest is biochem).

I play online all day, have awesome benefits, am able to pay my bills, and I veyr much enjoy my coworkers. I would be miserable if I thought I was going to be here forever, but I know I won't.

I dunno. I never did internships in school, so when I went to the career fair, I had nothing for my resume to make me stand out. I went back to the gas station I worked at over the summers and they made me a manager. I don't know what I want to do, but I don't think that's a good excuse, anything would be better than this. I also don't feel like anyone would hire me, like I'm worthy. It is true that other than my degree, I've got nothing for potential employers. Funny thing is, I know I'm smarter than a lot of people with better jobs. That's not arrogance, it's just an observation I've made. I guess I'm just scared of change, of the process. I'm a jackass.

I can't disagree with any of that.
By chance, do you do IT stuff? Because that's what I entered college for, but couldn't do the programming, so I switched majors. Now I hear about all these people making all this money w/ or w/o degrees doing the thing I THOUGHT I was gonna do, but then realized I can't. And other than sales (which I honestly don't know if I could do), I don't know where I could go make that kind of money.
