lets say i get stupid and eat half a pizza or whatever could i take like lets say 20 grams of fiber to compensate or more to "soak up" the fat? is this just a myth would 20 grams of fiber soak up 10 grams of fat?

Somehow, both soluble and insoluble fiber reduce the absorbtion of nutrients (macro and micro) by your body from food. I don't really care to speculate how this works, I just think it does. I don't think it works well enough to have a giant effect, though.

Try to pop up some chitosan instead: This seafood shell has the proprity to attract fat at around 10 times its volumes, and thus prevent it to be digested.

But what do you do with all the simple carbs ? POp up some HCA?
Just kidding!!

I don't think this is the answer, if you NEED to have that pizza then go ahead, don't get crazy though, and you'll do better the next day.

:D

Fibers do interfere with the absorption of nutrients, as Plornive stated. One mechanism is by physical interference, such as with soluble fibers, which turn into a gel-like mass in the intestines. This gelatinous mass will physically hinder the movement of nutrients to the intestinal wall (where absorption takes place) and also slow the movement of enzymes into the mass, thus interfering with digestion (things not digested properly are not absorbed properly).

Another mechanism is by decreased transit time. Bulking agents speed up the movement of nutrients though the intestines. If the mass moves through faster, then there is less time for proper digestion.

While fiber can reduce some food absorption, it is not a major reduction, probably no more than 10% max.
