Do you think men or women have a harder time acquiring a "good" body?

GoldenDelicious

New member
dunno if this thread has been made, but there was a lot of debate about it over the weekend, and i got to drive a couple of people mad ;)

imo it is harder for men these days, because not only are they meant to be lean, clear skin, nice hair etc etc but they have to be muscular as well

women around here, on the other hand, merely have to understand that putting your fingers down your throat trigger your gag reflex, and that boob jobs cost $3999 with 48 easy repayments

what do you bored bors think?

I think it's harder for women.
Women have more BF than guys.

So women must work harder to keep bf levels down.

Women do to the excess estrodgen levels

and i still can't spell worth shit...its from all the partying..........sigh

life is so complicated

oh definately.

Take the ideal woman body and the ideal man body

which is going to take more drugs and pain and time to achieve....

Its no question at all really.

Because u only know your own struggle. Our bodies r on display all the time

they dont HAVE to keep them as low as men.

Men are desired to have sixpacks. Women are desired to NOT have chunks of fat hanging out and thats it.

I think its totally easier for women. Any woman that spends the amount of time in the gym or sorting food, that the "ideal man" must, is going to look masculine.

Well i disagree strongly with you and as i said previously.. your opinion is biased.. u r a man.. U do not know what women go thru to look good.. only assume it's easier.

Some men have an eaiser time.. some women do..genentics, motivation etc all play a role.. u can not generealize

I stand by it that body wise its easier for women

its compensated i suppose by how they need to mind makeup, jewelry, heels...
more difficult for them to get their hair right...
they aren't expected to re-use dresses for formal parties...
they have to shave body hair

That would all suck.

but gym and diet wise its harder for men.

Hmm i guess i disagree because i go to the gym woprkdays 4am, and wekeends 6am or 7am.. and spend at least 1 hr to 2 hrs a day.

We're not all made up barbies.. some of us want to look good when we get up without the fuse and muse which means alot of work has to be put in elsewhere.. such as the gym, diet - all these things affect skin etc

Maybe but diet is more important... You could probably look the way you do spending less time in the gym and paying more attention to it.

Also you are doing more than anyone expects you to. Most men would probably like you more if your muscles were slightly smaller, or you had slightly more BF

Many of the most beautiful women in the world have never seen the inside of the gym.. mosty of the must lustful porn stars.. never work out or eat right many do drugs..

and have INSANE bodies.

You take a guy who never works out.. eats what he wants and does drugs.. you have Ron Jeremy

Any women who thinks men have it easier is kidding herlself.

Women, generally speaking, have a harder time with 'motivation", since working out hard is never easy.

Men have a harder time.

If you really think about it, a woman only has to be skinny(not difficult).

A man has to be big muscular, and ripped(which is very difficult to be both).

It is all genetics not anything man or woman IMO. I think that it is easier on certain body types ie mesos have it made. Even though woman have more fat I think with the right program it is easier to lose fat then bulk up. I watched a gf try to gain weight in college it was very hard for her Doc put her on a weight gainer and she didn't gain much at all. Eventually she started to fill out a bit more with age but I definatlly think bulking is hard then cutting.

I think women have it harder..... there is more of a societal "stereotype" if you will that says ALL women have to be a size 2 or a 4 & you are below maggot dirt if you're not.....

Plus, women's bodies are meant to be heavier as every month we are supposed to be pregnant.....our bodies hold fat & water & pump out all these freaking hormones in an effort to get pregnant, then support that life..... That makes a 5-10 lb weight difference daily in water weight alone....

Men have a lot more leeway when it comes to their physical appearance. Those "desires" to be muscular are more personal than societal IMO.....

true, but let's not also forget that it has become accepted in society for women "falsely advertise" their true appearance (i.e. makeup, push up bras, heels on shoes....).

Is it false advertisement, buyer beware or window dressing??

Plus, it's not really "accepted" as it is "encouraged" or "required" to look a certain way. You don't think all those ads are in magazines just cuz the company pays for them to be there do you?? Certain ads glorifying a more "natural" appearance (like gray hair) do not (most of the time) get into the mag....

God, how I hate high heels..... ugh!

I dunno.......overall, I have been working at about a 6.5-7.0 level where diet, cardio and training are concerned.....I might have an easier time getting into shape...but for most its brutally hard

Depends on what your definition of "good" entails.

Easier for men by far to keep wieght off, and we can carry a higher body fat less noticeably.

But there is no question that once you factor in muscuslar development in men (not an essential part of female perfection) its a lot more involved adding significant mass than losing a few pounds

I just meant accepted as in not many people even pay attention to it anymore. I love hearing women talk negatively about plastic surgery and altering your appearance, yet all the things I mentioned fall under the same premise, IMO (that's why we guys need to see you ladies first thing in the morning to get a real read on you). And I hear you on the pressures society puts on women (although I think it is a cop out in some instances too), but I think those same pressures are being put on men as well to a point. This while metrosexual thing is forcing dudes (or at least the ones that give in to it) to start doing many "women" things like plucking, waxing, "showering" and shopping.

:lmao:

definitely HARDER for women. the standards of beauty are so much tougher on women. too tough.

women gotta be thin, have nice boobs, pretty face, good hair, and on the younger side. guys can get away with being balding, older, having a spare tire, and not at all that handsome and still be considered attractive. it is way less about looks with men than women.

mostly true. but in the end, even a decent looking girl can walk up to a pretty good looking dude, say "take me home and fuck me" and she's in. vice versa ain't gonna happen, and isn't that what it's all about?

Game set match

no further debate is deemed necessary

well since i started the bloody thread im going to force my 2c down everyones throat ;)

i reckon men have it harder these days. sure there is societal pressure for women to look a certian way (ie slim, nice boobs, nice hair, clear skin, well dressed etc etc) the same pressures are being exerted on men (as mentioned above), but are damned no matter what they do - make yourself too pretty, and youre a "pretty boy" "fag" or whatever other derogations implying femininity you want to use - but dont do it enough, and youre a shambling neanderthal. i mean, what guys do you know that can get away with having a hairy back these days?

anyway thats getting off topic, we're meant to be talking about bodies - in which case the muscular and lean thing completely washes away any complaints women have, imo. ESPECIALLY for the naturals among us. as for the roiders...well i dont think i know any guys who know how to diet that look bad on roids. the guys that look bad on roids are the guys who, imo, are either plain bloody lazy, or are too ambitious in their goals, and get stuck in an endless bulker

Nope. I had a girl do that to me in a club once. I was stunned. I told her that I had to think for a minute (afterall this just doesn't happen like that). I thought she wanted to kill me or something. I walked around the club and when I made the cirlce, I saw her leaving with another guy. I wonder if he got fucked or robbed. LOL

I'm sorry but ppl judge me every day.. Fine I'm not a guy sop i don't know what that feels like.. but i know that when i got a r0ll.. ppl notice.. men can hide it under more cloths..

Fine there are garmetns that can help with this shit.. but i dunno if i oculd put myself in those contraptions.

The only "false advertising" that i mite do is wear a push up bra.. but im completely honest.. I GOT SMALL BOOBS!!!

no heels or makeup?

This is a hard question. Society definately as a whole I think puts a lot more emphasis on women looking good. Society doesnt expect men to spend as much time on their appearances.

However I think the ideal body, is a lot harder for a man to achieve than it is for a woman to achieve. I think for a guy to become a 9.5 on the appearance scale takes a lot more working on his body, than it does for a woman. (implants, tanning, and all that other bogus crap aside)

I think men can get away with being fat easier, or get away with being not as well dressed, groomed, etc. But still although this man will be elligible for a lot of females, he wont be elligible for the really beautiful ones.

I think, if you want the ideal woman with the ideal body, you have to be the ideal man with the ideal body.
And I think achieving the ideal body for a man, takes more work than achieving the ideal body for a woman.

most sought after guys are smart charming stylish millionaires.

Women have more tools to "fake it" but when it comes down who has it easier to get a better body by way of muscular structure and lower body fat men have it easier. Women are homonally challeged (estrogen) to hold fat deposits in many areas of their bodies.

Of course this is not an all men and all women sort of thing there are many exceptions within each sex.

Will women get the point already that estrogenous fat tissue looks good on them?

im not even a heffer chaser my girl is thin and smooth but the softness is a must its delish

Her lower back is very ripped and I like that too though

but I like her softy bits too

Females are under a lot of pressure to look a certain way. No doubt about that.

But I'd say it's harder for guys to look good. Mostly because we're inept when it comes to things like grooming and dressing ourselves. Women got that shit down pat.

but women dont need to lose all their fat. Or if they do, they dont have to have any muscle left afterwards in order to be considered beautiful.

Granted it may be harder for women to lose the fat. But they dont have to lose as much (since its acceptable for women to have curves but not for men to) and also its acceptable for women to have weak smooth arms, while men have to have buff and ripped arms. u get the idea

Generally speaking, it's harder for women to acquire what is considered a good body on a fitness board.

bullshit.

girls are picky bitches and judge guys all the time.- i guarantee you fat guys get made fun of alot more than fat girls, and not goodlooking guys get disrespected alot more than notgoodlooking girls and decent guys have to work ALOT harder for sex than decent girls.

false.

women have higher bodyfats naturally and can pull off like 20-25% easily.

men look str8 up shitty with anything over like 17

obviously im speaking with some bias but i would say men for sure...

like what others said before, men have to be big and ripped... NOT easy
women just need to be skinny.. they dont need sixpacks or any muscle definition at all.. just thin

with the exception of a PT, i have never dated a girl that worked out, but they've all been thin and had awesome bodies... i dont know any guys who have what i would define as a good body who doesnt put LOTS of work into it

I have to work my ASS off in order to be even slightly thin..... my heredity is not naturally thin -- it's plump to large and with the amount of skin I've had, without the muscle, I would have large amounts of loose skin everywhere.

So not all women get thin easily...... It is very very hard for me....

I guess I haven't been watching the right porn movies.....cuz a lot of the guys on the Playboy channel aren't cut or ripped..... A lot of the porn stars (male) I've seen are chubby, sweat hogs......not very attractive...

To a degree both men & women have to deal w/ whatever are the aspects of the body type they are born w/, but I personally think women have it generally harder because of the estrogen-related fat deposits. They also have to deal w/ the societal demands for 'the perfect body', and have to deal w/ it at all ages, both from women & from men.

The interesting thing is that if the media wasn't such a big factor & kids were given a solid nutrition education when they are young, there would be so many fewer problems.

Because society in general doesnt require women to be muscular at all really. Society just requires them to not be fat, heh.

Ha, well thats the thing, I dont look at Playboy channel. When I look at porn, it is usually from the internet, and most guys in these flicks are more muscular and leaner than your average dude.

You raise a good point. Definately not all women have it easy. But I think what sigweed and Sublime are trying to say, is that most of the time when you see a woman with a good body, it usually didnt take much work (just their genetics)

Look at it this way. If a man is skinny and without muscles, he's screwed. If a man is fat, he's screwed. All women have to worry about is not being fat.
Men have to worry about that, AND muscular growth as well.

i understand what you are saying. I guess its kinda a hard question to answer, since both genders have their pros and cons.

Yeah, the media and nutrition part I agree with too. Another think which would help, would be if it become less socially acceptable to: Drink pop all the time, eat fast food regularly, go to vending machines for snacks, being lazy and not exercising. etc.

Society has accepted laziness and unhealthy eating habits as things which are common and okay. We need to create some social pressure going in the other direction, that these things are bad.

Its funny, we have such a negative stigma against illegal drugs, but food is probably our worst drug, in that its unhealthy and also can be addicting.
We need to have more of a negative stigma in society, against unhealthy habits.
gaining 10 an unnecessary lbs should be comparable to... failing a class, or something. we need to look at it like that way more.

I don't usually check out porn on the internet, cuz once you look at one thing, you get spammed all the damn time....

Actually, most of the women & young girls I know -- my step daughter is 18 & I know all her friends -- don't like muscular guys. They like grungy looking skinny guys, whom I've met & none of them work out I don't think.

For most teenage girls it is common to be very boyishly-skinny. However once they go thru puberty & get older, the pelvic bones start to spread and fat begins to appear in certain areas (and stay there!) to prepare for childbirth..... It becomes an ever increasing battle to keep the fat off. Damn hormones!!

Plus, it is waaaay more acceptable for men to be pudgier. I've dated men who never worked out, ever in all different sizes & was never really concerned about their weight. Their personality made much more of an impact to me...

Oh, and there is a group of guys at my gym who lift together. Most of them have a bit of a gut..... None of them ever bust on each other for it -- it's more about how much they can bench or lift & who cares about the gut.....
