Do you exaggerate how much you bench press / squat etc??

can't say that i do. but i have some friends that do. then, when it's time to go to the gym and put their money where their mouth is, there's always some kind of problem. "my wrists hurt", "i'm having a bad day". you know, shit like that.

2 funny examples: when I was in high school another school bragged of their huge bench presses-so we went and checked it out. They were putting about 12" of towels on top of their chest and bouncing it off. Then the subject came up at work one day about bench pressing and one guy claimed to be able to have done 700lbs in high school-and this little fucker is about 5'5" and 145lbs-short man syndrome. Everyone else was at least 400 or so. With my knowledge on the subject I just kinda laughed it off and said yeah I was around 400 also. While im just a typical gym rat I wasn't going to embarass myself and tell them the truth that I could do in the mid 300's for real because they would've laughed at me. Even though in the real world it's more than any of them could do I guarantee it. Assholes.

lol 12" of towels :) Some would compare this to the effect of using a bench shirt I guess.

I NEVER exaggerate...other people do it for me! ...i was doing bench press with the heavy dbs in the gym (not what you think) and then "non paying viewers" claim i can lift double what i was doing..now who am i to correct them?

like most serious bodybuilders i dont feel any single lift can tell anything about me. So i usually just tell them my working sets. Cuz i dont max at all.

BTW i really do suck at those exercises.

before i used to estmate what my 1RM max was from what i was lifting for reps....

so i guess that was exaggeration on my part. now i don't im a bit more secretive

Well when you tell people your work sets do you add a little?

No i cant say i do.
I mean, i stand out in the gym anyway. So most people know my lifts better than me. Everybody wants to beat the instructor.

My comp numbers are the only ones that count...so no way for me to exaggerate. Of course I rarely talk about my numbers anyway.
