Diet dillema? Any thoughts?

From what I've heard the only "proven" way to increase lifes span in mammals is calorie restriction, and that high protien diets are associated with shorter life spans.

Being an avid bodybuilder when I'm on a bulking cycle I eat tons of calories and protien, I wonder if that could shorten your lifespan.

Anyone have any thoughts on that? I guess it's better to be strong and healthy than live a few extra years and be old and feeble, but sometimes I wonder.

It Makes Sense

Seems to me that to process food, your body has to kick out all sorts of chemicals. Then it has to kick out more to deal with the waste. Where do we think this energy actually originates from? I mean, even if the heart pumps...where does it get its pump? And if the brain regulates the pump, where does it get the energy to regulate the pump, etc?

Why do we imagine we have a limitless supply of energy to work with in our lives? Seems the easier you are on your 'car', the further it will go before it dies or needs repair. It also depends on whether you're drivign a 2002 Porsche 911 or a 1972 Ford Station Wagon.

The problem with this theory is that you can't make a rat workout to get it's body weight down as easily as you can by feeding it less. If you are working out and keeping your body fat percent down you probably have all the advantage that lower calories give you.

Free Radical damage is the biggest theory for why we eventually die. If you are eating plenty of antioxidant foods and taking a decent multivitamin everyday then you are doing a great job of keeping Free Radicals at bay. Some people think that Antioxidant foods have to be an aquired taste like Spinach. Well guess what Blueberries and Rasberries kick spinach's ass as far as antioxidant power goes. Instead of OJ in the morning mix Blueberries, Rasberries and Strawberries in a blender with some water and Splenda and you will get an everloving crapload of natural Antioxidants.
