How do you figure??
Seems to me that the only people that give a fuck about showing off diamonds are women.
What's the 1st thing a woman asks about a diamond?? How many carats??right???(read how much did your man spend on you).
I remember when I went ring shopping with my ex GF.
It was carat this, color this, clarity this.
What the fuck does it matter what the paper says??? If you can't see flaws with the naked eye, who cares right??
It's bragging rights, plain and simple.
Society, peer pressure what ever you want to call it dictates this norm-it's that simple. I don't agree with it either - it's repulsive.
Women ask how many carats because all their friends, family even strangers are going sum up and pass judgement on the man that bought them the ring based on it's size.
The only way this will change is if the custom changes.
If women had to buy men rings, buy the house, pay the bills and hold the pressure of keep of family financial stable things would be different.
But they are not.
You don't have to fall for it - but most women as do many of the men that do the purchasing.
