debt collectors!?

i got 2 automated voice calls to my home phone saying to log onto some website to make arrangements to pay a debt. i have no debts.

i'm 98% sure anyways... i always heard if you ignore them long enough that a unpaid debt except student loans which i don't have will come off your credit history in 7 or so years. UNLESS you make contact with them by accident or not. then the "chase" continues.

logging onto the site it said would be making contact right? is this a trick or scam??

i disputed a ER bill back in 01 but its been off my history since 08. no idea what i "owe" for...

Freeeeee credit report.com, i coulda seen this comin at me like an atom bomb. They'll monitor your credit and send you email alerts, so you dont end up sellin fish to tourists in T-Shirts...Yeeeehawwww

Making contact would not validate a debt in itself, but there's little good that could come from talking to a collector. At that point the damage is done.

If you acknowledge the debt you can "re-age" it. In Louisiana there's no legal avenue for collection on a unsecure debt after 36 months ... though you can receive calls for decades unless you send a registered "cease & desist" letter.

so my letter should say phuck off with a picture of me holding 100's? and they'll stop? i'm tempted to log on just to see what it is.

Yeah...contacted them won't do anything. But if you admit to the debt you can "restart" the statute of limitations on the debt.

put the number on your contact list and label it "DO NOT ANSWER" so everytime it pops up on your caller ID you just ignore
