Deadlifting with an F'd up Knee??

Prime Rib

New member
Im in the process of healing a jacked up kneecap (tore it up doing leg presses) and i'm dying to do some deadlifts. Believe it or not I have NEVER done them, and after reading how much they help the body grow im dying to try them. Ok enough blabbing...

Would straight leg deadlifts put as much pressure on the knees? And would they provide similar benefits to normal deadlifts? Any info is appreciated!

I cranked my knee about a week ago on leg press... did my deadlifts with no problem 5 days later.

Some knee injuries will affect your deads. Some won't.

(I actually hit a PR on leg press the week after I nudged it.)

Thanks a lot George. How about stiff legged vs. normal?

I've had total "can't bend it" leg injuries and still done straight leg dead lifts... it doesn't use your knee at all.
