Just decided to try and start using the deadlift platform in my gym instead of using the power rack area and I'm a bit confused on how to use it properly. The platform itself is fixed at maybe 6" off the ground, has a rack on one side and a little notch that keeps the bar just high enough to put 45lb plates on it.
My confusion is this - when I dead lift I want to completely deload the weight on each rep - this would mean putting the bar on my feet...it just seems like the platform is too high. I overcame this in my first usage by setting one of those step things from the step aerobics class on each side of the platform...which allowed me to go 2-3" below the platform - which is about right. The problem w/ this method is 1) I can no longer use the notch thingy to load the weights and 2) I have to go get two steps from the aerobics class
Am I using the platform incorrectly?? Seems like the height on these things should be adjustable.
