if anyone here can prove any of his statements incorrect, please do so in this thread. thanks
--------------------------------------------------------------------

THE PALESTINIANS WERE GIVEN A STATE AND THE LAND TWICE - IN 1948 AND 1999 - AND THEY REJECTED BOTH TWICE.
In 1948, the Arabs rejected the gift of a sovereign Palestinian state in favor of a war to destroy Israel, the only non-Arab presence in the Middle East. The new Israeli state occupied less than 1% of all the land in the Middle East, but that was too much for their Muslim neighbors. (Lebanon was also a non- Muslim state and the only other democracy in the Middle East until the Muslim Arabs and the PLO destroyed it.)
In 2000, Bill Clinton and Ehud Barak offered the Palestinians a state and 97% of the land they were demanding (Israel agreed to cede the other 3% from existing Israeli terrority). Arafat rejected the offer and launched the Second Intifada, a terrorist assault on Israeli civilians involving suicide attacks.

THE IDEA THAT ISRAEL HAS TAKEN LAND THAT BELONGED TO THE PALESTINIANS IS FALSE.
In 1948, the United Nations allotted land to Israel and to the Palestinians to form new states. This was land was not "Palestine," nor did it belong to any people called "Palestinians." It had been ruled by the Ottoman Turks for 400 years. It became a British mandate after Turkey's defeat in the First World War. Eighty percent of the so-called "Palestine Mandate" was allotted to the newly created state of Jordan which has a majority Palestinian population to this day, although it is ruled by Hashemite Arabs.
During the Arab war against Israel in 1948, Egypt and Jordan annexed the West Bank and Gaza which ceased to exist as independent entities for the next 17 years. During the entire 17 years, there were no complaints from the Palestinians over the occupation and erasure of their homeland by fellow Arabs.
The Arabs did not care because they considered themselves - Palestinians and all -- part of the greater Arab nation. The goal of the Palestinians has always been - in their own words -- the destruc- tion of the "Zionist entity," i.e., the State of Israel itself. That is why there has been no peace in the Middle East for more than fifty years.
The Arabs and the Palestinians have always referred to the creation of Israel as "the Nakhba" - the catastrophe. In other words the creation of a Jewish state in the Muslim Middle East is viewed by the Arabs and the Palestinians as a catastro- phe that must be undone. This is why there can be no peace without regime change in the Arab world. The Middle East War is not about a state or land. It is about the fifty-five year Arab war to eradicate the existence of a Jewish state in the Arab Muslim Middle East. There are two hundred million Arabs in the Middle East living on more than 99% of the land, and six million Jews living on less than 1%. No seri- ous person can imagine that the Jews are an impe- rial power threatening the Arabs.

THE GENOCIDAL WAR THAT IS NOW BEING WAGED AGAINST ISRAEL was once unthinkable in a post-Nazi world. Now it is gaining ground through the support of the interna- tional left. The left's mission is to de-legitimize Israel and make its Jews vulnerable to the Arab attack.
The left rationalizes the Palestinian terror campaign as a campaign of "desperate" people. In fact the ter- rorists have twice ruled out the hope of peace and are squandering billions in past and promised gifts from the West in order to pursue their pathological hatred of the Jews.
Palestinian despair is not despair over being thwarted in the desire for a state. It is despair at not being able to destroy "the Zionist entity," whose very existence is a thorn in the side of an Arab world that is xenophobic and filled with hate. It is despair at not being able to "liberate" Palestine "from the Jordan to the sea."

THE LEFT JUSTIFIES, OR EXCUSES, OR ENABLES ARAB JEW-HATRED, which is institutionalized in the Arab world. This hatred is expressed in the Arab states' mass production of anti-Semitic propaganda like the Protocols of the Elders of Zion; the Arabs' campaign to stigmatize Jews with the very symbols of their Nazi extermina- tors; and the Palestinians' training of small school children to aspire to be murderers whose victims are Jews. The left turns a blind eye to the virulent racism these acts reveal. Or worse, assists it.
According to the left, the hateful methods chosen by the Palestinians reveal nothing about their character and motives because these monstrous acts are mere- ly the last resorts of a people who are oppressed. But what can "last resort" mean in a context where the killers have already been offered the very state they claim to want and the land they claim to desire; and have rejected both; and have done so not once but twice?

NEVER IN THE COURSE OF HUMAN- HISTORY HAS ANY PEOPLE - oppressed or otherwise - killed their own children, telling them that if they murder other children along with themselves, they will go to heaven. Not even the Nazis attempted such a perversion of religion or of basic human instinct. But sixty-percent of Palestinians are on record as supporting these acts of genocide against Jews.
Would the left encourage anyone but Jews to surren- der to the demands of such an enemy? Can anyone think that the obstacle to co-existing with such evil really comes down to a few settlements or a disputed fence designed to keep the murderers at bay?

THE SETTLEMENT ISSUE IS A RED-HERRING.
There are more than a million Arabs settled in Israel who enjoy more rights than Arabs in the rest of the Middle East. On the other hand, no Jews are allowed to live in the Arab world itself, in settlements or other- wise. If they were, the Jewish settlements could be incorporated in a Palestinian state, in the same way that Arab settlements are incorporated in Israel. Under West Bank law it is death to sell land to a Jew. This Jew-hatred is hardly surprising, since the Arab leaders were allies of Hitler in the 1930s and 1940s, and Communism after that. The intolerance and racism of the Arab states are expressed in their acts and alle- giances, including their support for black slavery in the Arab and Muslim Sudan, where more than a million black Christians have been slaughtered by the Islamic regime in recent years.

AMERICA'S WAR AGAINST AL-QAEDA AND ISRAEL'S WAR AGAINST THE PALESTINE terrorist authority are one. With the creation of the Al- Aqsa Martyrs' Brigade, the Palestinian Authority has formally joined the jihad launched by Osama bin Laden. The goal is to liquidate Israel, and establish in its place a radical Muslim state at war with America and the infidel world.
Only a denial as deep and wide as that of the 1930s will refuse to see the holocaust coming. Yet, the American left and its international comrades are in full- throated support of Jew-haters in the Arab world and their efforts to de-legitimize Israel and to portray the Jews as the cause and not the victims of this terror.

Good article and I agree completely. I've wrote numerous letters to local papers about these very same issues...in college towns, it is very chic to support the Palestine cause and dennounce Israel as evil. The media embraces these folks and gives them a platform to spew their rhetoric, which is often thinly cloaked anti-semtic thought. Everyone hates little tiny Israel, wtf...

I consider myself very left-wing, but am also jewish. Believe me, I used to be kind of in the middle of the issue, I didn't know what to think. But through involvement in the jewish community I came into contact with many informed individuals who told me how things REALLY ARE.

All that shit ^ is TRUE.

It's really a lose-lose situation. Because of the 2% of extremists that wage jihad, the rest of the palestinians are subject to israel's protectionary measures, which in turn ignite more hatred and jew-killing. WTF are they supposed to do?

Seriously when I see these "divest from israel" schmucks on my uber-liberal campus, I want to beat them with a giant menorah.

"If the arabs put down their guns there would be no fighting. If the jews put down their guns there would be israel."

You realize this logic defeats itself right?

Either way, I agree with you. The only hope is to get rid of hardliners like Sharon and leaches like Arafat. A true dialogue between the new generation Palestinians and Israelis may be the only solution, with a truly nuetral US mediation. But that wont happen.

The argument that the 'left' is supporting terrorism against Israel is about as logical as saying anyone opposed to GW Bush is by default supporting Osama Bin Laden. Further to that non-sense anyone opposed to the war in Iraq must hate America. Take it one step further, anybody supporting John Kerry must be an Al Qaeda sympathiser. So if you are not on the 'right' you're a terrorist. How about we start jailing everybody who doesn't want to vote for Bush?

Nothing new, just a representation of the pro israel idea.
It's not use stressing how there was no palestine before 1947-48.
After all there sure as hell wasn't an Israel

Anti-Anti-Semitism is such a foolish fad of the modern times. :D

That is a good summary of Horowitz’s thinking on all issues. (Sean Hannity has adopted the same thinking by equating liberalism and terrorism.)

David Horowitz is the perfect example of the way the extreme right and left have almost identical appeal to many people. Ideological content becomes secondary to their need to reduce everything to black and white (in several senses) —which is what the far left and far right both do.

Horowitz is the son of communists. He was active in the free-speech movement and is truly one of the early movers of the New Left movement. (Read his book “Student" and compare it to his later work.) He was one of the main proponents of Maoism in this country. He was so far to the left that he became Huey Newton’s protégé in the Black Panthers.

Horowitz recommended an associate of his at the ultra-left Ramparts Magazine as treasurer for the Panthers. She was murdered after discovering the Panthers were involved in prostitution and drug trafficking. (Newton, charged with murder, had already fled to Cuba.)

The murder began Horowitz’s metamorphosis into a far-right lunatic. The man who was Huey Newton’s advocate turned into the author of “Hating Whitey,” a book so racist that his regular publisher rejected it and many booksellers wouldn’t put it on their shelves. He also wrote “The Art of Political War,” Carl Rove’s fave, in which he reverses himself once again and calls for the GOP to romance black people after effectively calling them all rapists and liars. His current obsession is political correctness on campus.

You read it, right? I listened to his talks on the news shows during this book release and he presented no "racist" rhetoric, unless one considers anything that addresses "black" issues as racist, which actually is common on the left.

I am sure that Horowitz labeled ALL blacks as rapists and liars. You sound very much like those "right-wing" nuts that you rail against.

Yes, I read it, and all his other work too. I was a long-time admirer, even after he began his transition and I even liked his column in Salon until he became Rove's buttboy. Have you read his work? Or do you depend on what you hear on the news shows? Conservatives and libertarians have a tendency to do that.

Yes, it's an exaggeration to say he calls all black people rapists and liars. Just those in power and enough that nobody has taken his book seriously. Well, maybe you, but I doubt you've read it.
