I'm actually being non-biased and objective since
I'm spanish NOT american.
But even I have to give the US its dues. If it
weren't for their help the arabs woud have exterminated
the jews.

I don't listen to religious dogma(which is all BS anyways)
, I listen to facts.

Here are the facts(as they were in 1960)

1. Israel was fighting a war on TWO FRONTS.
2. They had the same OR WORSE technology than
the arab nations surrounding them.
3. Their military was SMALLER and probably less
well trained.

Frankly, if I were in they're situation I'd go somewhere else.

But, in came the US.

Here are the facts NOW:

1. Israel is STILL fighting a war on two fronts.
2. Technology is NOW VASTLY SUPERIOR.
3. HALF their population is in the military.
4. Their IDF is very well trained.

Do you see the difference?

Right now, I have no doubt that Israel could
obliterate all the other arab countries if
it wanted to.

The problem now, is that the arab countries who now
see themselves greatly out-classed by the Israeli's
have to resort to terrorist attacks.

Now, arabs in general ARE BY NO MEANS TERRORRISTS.
This is an utter fallacy. Don't confuse religious
fervour with insanity.

A person can be religious yet peaceful(As most arabs are)

As in most cases, its the deeds of a few fanatics that
give arabs a bad name.

MOST people are rational. They will NOT kill
someone based on religious dogma.

Good points. Also, most pro-terrorism governments are
formed through oppression and fear.

You remove the head honcho's of those governments
and the problem is solved.

I realize this will never happen, but democracy has
a way of finding the light once dictators/regimes
are removed from power.

And we all pretty much now that NONE of the arab
governments who sponsor terrorism will EVER
change their mind.

One fact that I forgot to mention is that the reasoning
congress used to give the Israeli's the capability
of producing more nuclear weapons(as a form
of deterrence), was that if it didn't projections
indicated that Israel would go nuclear if backed
into a corner by the other arab nations.

Israel also came VERY, VERY close to using
a 200 KT warhead against the Syrians in the
seven-days war.

Trust Israel? Hmmmmmm....thats up for debate.

They're too unpredictable. Just look at the Knesset
(Their parliament). If you've seen a more fragmented
ruling body I sure woud like to know.

Sorry, I should have explained the physics behind
the choice to give them the ability to produce
weapons grade U-235 for use in nuclear weapons.

Ok, Isarel stole some U-235 of the US in 1960.
They had enough to poduce 20 2nd generation
fission nuclear weapons.
These nuclear weapons were in the 150-200KT
range.
However, once these were gone, they're nuclear
capability would be lost forever.
Hence, the problem:

If Israel was backed into a corner and they chose
to fire all the nukes they had at the arabs
IT WOULD NOT BE ENOUGH.
20 150-200KT(kilo-ton or equivalent to 100 000Kg of
high explosive) nuclear bombs would not be enough
to stop the arabs.
It would cause some serious losses, but not
stop them.

So, in order to protect Israel and "keep the peace",
the US chose to give the Israeli's the ability
to produce they're own weapons-grade U-235.

They now have the capability to launch a couple of
hundred tactical nukes w/ the possibility
of producing more if the wanted to.

Kind of made the arab countries stop in their tracks
before launching another massive attack against Israel.

I also haven't mentioned that the nukes Israel has
now are tritium-enriched 3rd Generation nuclear
weapons w/ a 475 KT capability.

Thank god they don't have THERMO-nuclear
capabilty.i.e. Hydrogen bomb. which has
a capability of 5MT or 5000KT.

Well, they don't have either the launchers or the
ICBM capabilty yet. However, they don't really need
to.
Why?

All they would need to do is remove the conventional
missiles from an F-16 and re-fit it with the 475KT
nuke. Then, each F-16 could one-way their Nuke
about 1000-1400km. Which is well within
the range of most of the arab countries.
Hell, if they wanted to they could re-fuel the bird with a
tanker and go for 2000Km.

fonz i was actually just looking at the possible (albeit v.unrealistic) ability of the israelis to launch a nuclear attack on another country.

i was just curious as to if they could light up the sky if they really wanted to.
