damn american cars

I thought about getting a full size truck, but Chevy goes and puts that nasty looking front end on their trucks because they have so many left over from those Avalanche things. WTF. U-G-L-Y.

I drive a 2002 Avalanche, and I couldn't be happier with it. It rides well, has a ton of cargo room, and can hold 6 adults.

Personally, I like the Chevy trucks better with the new front ends.

Course, I've never been a truck person, which could be why I like the Avalanche.

you all have just never owned a jeep. best vehicle ever

Ive driven many of them..... very comfy and nice engine... but not enough cargo room and its not a family car..

what foreign car in the same price range can touch the vette??

answer: none!

Yup American cars are shitboxes! Go Asian (can't beat the reliability) or European (can't beat the power/performance). American cars lose out in both those departments. American classics are good though.

There's a reason why ALL the second world coutnries, and poorer countries don't dare touch American cars. Japanese cars are still way cheaper to maintain, cheaper parts, and easier to fix-up.

Don't spend a lot of time in Mexico eh?

People in other countries fucking love American cars.

That said, of all the places I've been, Suzuki and Mitsubishi seem to be the most prevalent in terms of cheap shitty cars all over.

But if the people could afford them, they want the US cars.

In many parts of Europe you will see people in BMWs and Mercedes and they get to talking about cars with you and all they want is some big ass American car.
I haven't been to Japan, but when my friend came back, he said how a lot of the guys his age had boners for the American cars - but couldn't get them over there.

I personally will never own an American car beyond maybe the fact that Ford and GM own Volvo, Saab, Jaguar, Range Rover, Opel, etc - so in the end maybe that is American via association and shared parts.

BMW reliability? yeah, like government efficiency........ i had bmw's that blew cylinder head gaskets, with sloppy shifting, gutless ZF automatic transmisssions that needed expensive rebilding at 88,000 miles, at more than twice the cost of an american transmission, overheating problems in traffic if i had the nerve to run the noisy but just barely adequate air conditioner, metallic paint tht faced to the primer within 6 years' time, not to mention the snide, arrogant "ze problem ez wif ze driver, not ze machine" dealer service departments......

lexus and infinity showed up BMW and MB for the overpriced, living on their past reputation mediocore cars they were.

Dude, you got a shitty car because BMWs last when they are taken care of.

Rover as a company was for shit. They sold out to BMW who redid everything and for one year made a very quality machine.
BMW then saw that in order to keep doing that, they weren't going to make money.
Ford then bought it off of them and got the new design and better reliablity and who knows what they will end up doing with it - ideally leaving it the hell alone.
But I would assume they will try to drop the cost of making them by reusing parts of their own SUVs.

I'm not a big Ford fan and will never own anything they make or have bought out.

But the people that said Brit cars suck are right on the money - Jag, Rover, and MG were total crap for the longest time. Aston Martins were fantastic for many people, but only becuase the people that had that much money weren't buying it as their daily driver, and therefore didn't mind it in the shop a lot.
I haven't follwed MG to see if they have been bought out, but they have a new convertible that I see all over the place here (I don't live in the states).
Bently was a fantastic machine, and now that they too have been bought out by Volkswagen/Porsche/Audi - it is still quite nice indeed - better be for that much money.
