covert gay men

are any of you gay guys here 'covert'. like, would the average person you talk to have no idea you're gay if you didnt tell them? or would they know right away? it seems that the majority of gay people on campus are one of the two extremes. either they keep a low profile, or they are semi-militant.

there is a guy in a few of my classes who i talk to on a regular basis and will ask for help if i dont get something. anyhow, i asked him why he didnt stay in the military (he was in some branch for a few years), and he starts saying how he didnt want to live his life as a lie, and i was like, 'huh?' and then he told me he was gay, like he was shocked i didn't know. i had absolutely no idea whatsoever. the guy *always* has chicks around him and doesnt fit the 'stereotype' at all.

on the other hand, i notice there is a completely different group. my freshmen year in college, one of the guys in my hallway was gay, but was one of those militant, in your face, banner-waving types. he would wear spiderman costumes and the ballerina to-to thing to class, or shirts that say 'femme' or 'queer' on it.

i'm just asking here, so no one start getting pissed and start hating on poink.

my brothers best friend isgay (i've known him about 15 years), no one knew until a few years ago.

everyone thinks im gay because i'm not interested in women.

Nobody knows I am gay until I tell them. I have many females hound on me and never suspect anything and I am always very nice but stay away. The other kind as you speak are the ones I don't want to represent me but those are the ones the media portrays. Why show a gay man who is more masculine than a straight man when you can show a man that acts like a girl? How else would everyone assume that every gay man hops and skips.

That's an interesting point. All the gay dudes I know are pretty masculine guys. In fact I've only met one gay man who's fit the typical media stereotype, and most other gay people think he's a tool.

flexed, your a fudgepacker too? damn, I had no idea that I would run into (not literally) so many gays on this board..........no offense, just strange.

Yeah, something is strange all right, but it's got nothing to do with the homosexuals on this board.

Yeah.. it looks like there are 2 main types of gay men.. some are just like p0ink said, semi-militant, while others i would never think they were gay.

A friend of mine for several years told me he was gay a few years back. I would never thought it.. but hey it doesnt bother me. We are still as good friends as we were before i knew this..

The semi-militant, femi-ballerina gays just gross me out.. :-)
