Bro, listen to my answer on this... and remember that it comes from 30+ years experience practicing different martial arts:

boxing, kick boxing, jujitsu... in that order

OK, I hope you don't kick my ass for disagreeing, but from my experience it seems the wrestler does better. watch the ultimate fighting championships, once the wrestler gets the take down it is basicaly over with
I don't know, I just always felt safer taking a guy to ground, no I don't have any martial arts training, just jh & hs wrestling, but I can honestly say that I've never lost a fight that I did'nt start

The U.N should pass a resolution stating all gangsters should be round up like the nazis rounded up the jews and torch those fuckers.

But then where would our youth of today/tomorrow get their sense of fashion?

Dont worry about future threats from people, wannabee and the like.

If they really had a problem with you they would have served you right then and there.

You did exactly what I would have done. Good move man. I know where you're coming from on feeling powerless, but just try not to think about it too much more.

buddy28, if you had been packing a gun, do you think you would have gotten so stirred up? I know you say that you felt threatened, and of course I believe you, but it seems that a lot of what is really bothering you is that feeling of powerlessness. That's what would bug me.

If you were strapped with a Glock .45 and the same thing happened, you'd probably not be so bothered by it. At least for me, I'd just smile to myself and think how surprised they'd be if they actually made a move for a weapon or approached me all at once in a threatening manner, and my well-dressed cracker ass put a slug in the first one's chest.

You are DEAD wrong... and I stress the dead.

Grappling is great for UFC fights. In a street fight with 5 guys... 4 of them are not going to politely wait to the side while you wrestle their friend into submission. They are going to kick you in the head again and again while you roll around on the ground trying to get a choke or mount going.

Grapling is not the best choice if you have to face more than one person. This is why most of the top BJJ guys are also excellent boxers.

The best man at my wedding dropped 5 guys in a bar fight. He studied boxing originally... added kick boxing and BJJ later. One of the 5 guys he fought that night was a black belt in karate... one of the rare times you go up against a trained fighter.

If he'd tried to take that guy to the ground he'd be dead.

I concur.

Like most everyone said, you did the right thing.

Although I would have been an ass and told the police that they had flashed a gun at me.

That would teach them a few things.

LOL...thinking out of the box as usual...you sure
you arent/werent a cop???

At the time, I was considering telling the cops these guys either offered to sell me drugs or flashed a gun at me.

I didn’t though. I wasn’t sure what would happen if the cops didn’t find anything on them. Whether i could be charged ect ect.

At the moment, I’m in a bit of a precarious stage in my life financially speaking, and was thinking more about my cash flow regarding court costs ect if the cops decided I was bullshiting.

I’m not familiar with Canadian law so I don’t know if the cops would turn around and charge me if i made a claim which turned out to be bogus. Although I suppose an argument could be made they passed the gun off before the cops arrived.
