I'm glad i live in Australia.
Back in the day I would have rounded up my posse and went back there and gone insane,but now I would just look at them and laugh right at them.As long as none of them got close enough,I wouldn't sweat it.Why waste energy battling a bunch of fucking losers who are going nowhere in life?Chances are they are only acting brave for 2 reasons:
1-Security/strength in numbers
2-They are packing heat/weapons.

What would have been the outcome if you were gonna act tough and take them on? Tragic maybe? Would have been worth it?

I believe these guys did this to you because one of these two reasons.
1. You were starring at them and maybe saying stuff to your g/f about them.
2. You were wearing all blue (gang colors) and the starring made them wonder.
I don’t think these guys would just choose you to fuck with out of all these people. The "hey Blue" is a good indication of this. If they just wanted to start something they would have started hollering at your women to piss you off. 99.9% of the time this is how they start fights.
And I believe AAP is dead wrong, I don’t care if he is 6"5 350 pounds. 5 of these thugs would have fucked with him probably just because he is big. And if they had a gun, he would be dead. You did the right thing man. Just leave it alone, especially if you don’t know how to scrap. 5 on 1 is a lose lose situation. I couldn’t see any one man defeating 5 guys at once, especially this type of guys who think they have something to prove.
I had 3 (black thugs type) guys do the same thing to me…and I just kept walking, And my stupid girl friend said HEY, I THINK THEY ARE TALKING TO YOU(thinking they were my friends) so I thought I had to prove my shit to my girlfriend, so I turned around and was approaching these guys ready to throw down. And one of them moved his un-button shirt out of the way reveling a gun….I turned around and walked away and had to listen to them laughing at me.

My actual insight into Buddy28's actions, though, are: where was his concern? He was there with his girlfriend. He talks about being pissed... being bigger than these guys... and at the same time he avoided an unnecessary confrontation that would have endangered her.
I don't go looking for fights, but I have clocked through a few dirt bags who forced the issue. Interesting to me is the fact that I NEVER bounced somebody off the sidewalk in front of my wife or girlfriend. I always find myself avoiding situations when they are around and they aren't being threatened.
I can do whatever I want when I'm by myself. I don't act the same way when I have to be responsible for someone else.

if your back were against the wall, then go apeshit, but you did the mature and responsible thing. your GF's safety should have been your main concern, not your ego. i understand how there are times when you want to go vigilante on someone just because they deserve the worst, but i always think to myself "life will deal with them rather well".

I agree with sofa, if the girl is with you avoid the problem if possible. I live near a beach with a strip of bars that always has idiots, wanna be thugs (and, by the way wanna be thugs come in all colors 
Usually I just ignore the guys and keep moving, but this one particular group had a video camera and they were taping women as they walked by. I really could have cared less, but they walked up behind my girl with the camera at ass level. I should have just stepped in between the camera and her, or grabed her and walked away but I did not. I turned and confronted the guy, ended up smacking the camera out of his hand and punching him a couple of times. His friends rushed up behind me before I could turn around and one of them hit me in the head with a glass bottle of some kind. That was not so bad, I got kicked while I was on the ground a couple of times, but no big deal. The problem was that as his friends rushed up my girl was in the way and they knocked her over. She hit her head pretty hard on the concrete and was scared to death. All I remember is the fog clearing, seeing police around and my girls face covered with blood and some tears. I could have gotten her seriously injured, or worse if they had a gun and she somehow got in the crossfire I would never forgive myself.
