What is the point of eating food that is really high in sugar during carbups? I see a ton of people eating sugary stuff during their refeed. I personally prefer complex carbs, but is there a reason for eating the sugary stuff ?

This isnt a flame EMAN_Z, but unconsciuously whether you know it or not your doing the same thing by eating white flour carbs and refined things like pasta.

The whole science behind is to spike insulin levels for faster uptake of the carbs and therefore have them shuttled in faster for the numerous benefits carb-ups present. Simple carbs (sugars and starches w/ high G.I.) do this well.

I think the main thing about carbing up (as long as your not competing) is to ENJOY the foods you dont normally have, but dont make a pig out of your self and still show some discipline in not going overboard.

I feel pretty much everyone has came to the agreement that one or two meals on your carb-up day that dont perfectly fit the profile of very high carbs low fat isnt going to kill you, just make sure that pizza or doughnut doesnt turn into the whole pie or dozen. For me, this is HARDEST part.

The "sugary" stuff is because it is yummy. It is less than ideal to eat too much of that because of the fructose content. High GI carbs are a different matter, as insulin potentiates the effects of carbohydrates on leptin expression -- and, upregulating leptin expression is the proper purpose of refeeds.
