McGill will land you a great job as long as you graduate from the right faculty and you network.

Plus in the case of grad schools, McGill Med and McGill Law for under $4,ooo per year Canadian each per year. A McGill Doctor and/or lawyer is as prestigious as Harvard.

yup McGill Law school was 3000$ a year back then (in 1997). Oh 3k canadian lol Now add around 500-1000$ for the books and that's it. Not to mention people were pretty cool there and it would take me only 12 minutes in Metro to go from home. I've always wondered what people would get for 20k, still haven't figured a logical answer......

They get a name. Think about it this way. If people have the extra money, they are better off spending it since they will be taxed on it otherwise.

....After another semester of doing jack shit in comparison to the worst underachiever and still getting B's, I often wonder if I'm doing the right thing....

There's no substitute for good grades. HOWEVER....

Much depends on where you're at. Most schools reward effort, so you put in the effort and you'll most always get A's.

However, I finished grad school, and I soon learned getting A's ment being a slave to the library and tailoring my study habits to give the professers exactly what they wanted. I wasn't graded on ability or demonstration of what I knew, it had to be THIER way or it didn't count. I decided to just do my best and take what I got. A whole lot less stress and a lot more time freed up for personal time. I can defend my choice on the fact that the circumstances made it a joke to work hard since it really didn't result in good grades.

If I have to defend my C average in a job interview, one point will be the inconsistency of the grading system were nobody was evaluated on how much they knew but the quirks of the professors. Also, college is about learning to adapt. You can't give 100% to a situation 100% of the time. Life doesn't allow it. Often, what you know how to do won't fit the given situation. How you choose to handle a situation says as much about you as how you did handle it.

For me, having a life was equally important as good grades. I tried it their way and was miserable with no time for myself. So, I put my needs first and managed to make passing grades, didn't mess with the political BS of the situation, and often did as well or better than many who still busted their butts.

$20,000 x .50 > $20,000 - $20,000.

They're just wasting their money.

c) Do close to nothing and get above average grades (B's with some A's)

After another semester of doing jack shit in comparison to the worst underachiever and still getting B's, I often wonder if I'm doing the right thing. If I applied myself I could do so much better, but I don't see any reason to as my scholarship awards won't increase, I won't have any better of a chance to find a job in the real world, I won't get any more respect or admiration from anyone who matters to me, and quite frankly I would be screwing myself out of money because I won't be paid as much at work due to going to school so much.

So which is it... stay at school until 6:30pm and sleep 5 hrs a night to get a B+ or leave at 3:15pm and get 7-8 hrs to get a B-?

I have been lazy since I started college...not studying, going to class but not paying attention....I have a 3.5 after this semester ... I know I could have done alot better and because I was only taking a couple classes for each of these 3 semesters I should have...this semester I am going to be taking 2 classes and testing out of 2 elective classes, I plan to actually WORK at it and get a 4.0 this semester, I want to have a 3.8 when I leave this college with my associates in science to go to a university....funny thing is though, I dont think the uni will even transfer my grades, but I am going to see if I can get a white people scholarship so that is the reason why I need to work harder.

It is important to have a high GPA to transfer to a 4-year uni. The scholarships you mentioned is one reason, but it also allows you to go into whatever program you choose.

Well during the 3 years in college I started out in the B cat.

then just before I got suspended I ended up in the ???

My next go round with college I plan on staying in the C cat and making A's

Why cause I'm paying my own way in life now as opposed to having to do nothing before and having a roof over my head and food to eat...Now I'm taking orders from a group of 5 NCO's who all together have less education then me. Do I plan on staying an Enlisted man to become an NCO not if I have any choice in the matter....I'm too damn smart to make crapy grades so I I know going back to college I will be back to making good grades.

Why is it important to me? Simple because I know I'm better then a C-B grades

If there is not an attendence policy, you will not find me in class.
