CKD carb up

s2000

New member
I'm currently 176lbs, about 10.5%BF, 6'0" and am running a CKD with 2100 kcal (12cal/lb) keto days and 4000 cal 36 hour carb up. Firstly, I'm not losing a lot of weight (like almost none) and I do about 2 hours of 70% cardio a week, plus three workouts on monday, tuesday, and depletion on friday. what gives? I'm not on ECA now, and am taking a break but will restart eca next week.

Also, what is the best way to do the carb up? I plan on eating 3-4 bananas mixed in w/ 2 cups milk and my protein shake 30 minutes prior to depletion, and then drinking gatorade and 1000mg ALA post workout. What is the proper way to do a carb up? what is the best carb powder to restore muscle glycogen? I've heard both good and bad things about fructose for the carb up. Also, is vanadyl sulfate necessary when on ALA?

Thanks, will post my progress...

carbs-ups should be hi gi am and low gi pm. no fruits, limit milk...and limit fat. protein should be moderate.

yeah but also rez don't forget you want to go back to hi GI at the end. But yeah you do not want to eat fruits and such on the carbup. I've never heard staying away from milk tho'.

Also, if you don't know the proper way to carb up, then apparently you haven't done all your homework on this diet, which isn't cool. I mean what if you had a pre existing kidney condition or something and never read that it's not recommended that smoeone who has one try this diet? You'd have done yourself some possible harm.

Anyway, If you're doing everything by the book and not losing anything then just get off the diet. Some people just plain outright do not work well on these CKD's. Adding ECA or doing cardio in the AM on an empty stomach is doubtfully going to help.

Now if you decide to come off, do a search on the board using keywords like coming off keto or ending ckd, etc. and read up.

Looks to me like you're eating too much. Try 10 calories per pound during the keto phase, limit your carb-up to 18-24 hours, and heed rez and Burning Inside's advice about no lactose or fructose.
