Chris Benoit and family found dead in home today

New member
As noted earlier, former WWE and WCW World champion Chris Benoit and his wife, former WCW and ECW personality Nancy "Woman" Benoit were both found dead today in Atlanta, Georgia. Benoit's son Daniel was also found dead.

Obviously this will be a huge developing story in the days to come but at this point, we'd like to express our deepest condolences to the Benoit's family, friends, and fans at this time.

WWE just told its talent and released on its web site that Chris Benoit was found dead by Atlanta police.

All plans for Raw tonight have been scrapped and they will do a show on the life of Benoit. As always we will be providing live play by play coverage of RAW as it happens tonight starting at 8PM EST.

wtf????????????????? thats fuckin nuts.

This makes me sad. When you watcj soemone on TV for years, it is almost like you know them. Whether it is wrestling or a musician or an actor. It is always sad when people/families die tragic deaths. Unless they deserve them.

fuckin crazy...........i wonder if it was like a phil hartman situation where one spouse went nuts and killed everybody?

whole family wiped out...that's fucked

You hate to think that shit, but it was either that or they were all murdered.

One of the greatest matches I ever seen was when Benoit wrestled under a mask as The Pegasus Kid and he fought Jushin Thunder Ligen(sp?). Fucking incredible match. Probably in my all time top 5.

holy shit...........unbelievable, hope it makes vince put his stupid little limo stunt into perspective.

No shit! I am wandering if he will axe that idiotic angle and be at the tapings tonight to show his respects.

I just read this in one of the news reports. I wonder what this is about????

Benoit was scheduled to wrestle at the Vengeance pay-per-view Sunday night in Houston, but was replaced at the last minute because of what announcer Jim Ross called “personal reasons.”

I say this is either more hype from the fake Vince death of last week or else Vince is really dead(killed by Benoit) and this was a repay killing from WWE! I should write for daytime soap.

he left ppv early b4 his match to head home for a family emergency he was scheduled to win a title too, he had to have killed his wif and kid, wife i could see but your kid...dam

"Sensational" Sherri passes away

By Corey Clayton
Written: June 15, 2007

WWE is saddened to learn of the death of WWE Hall of Famer “Sensational” Sherri. She was 49.

In the early 1980s, Sherri began her career in the AWA. In 1985, she defeated Candi Devine to become the AWA Women’s Champion. Their rivalry lasted more than a year, with the championship trading hands on several occasions.

It was during this time that she began perfecting her skills as a manager, leading “Playboy” Buddy Rose and “Pretty Boy” Doug Somers to the AWA Tag Team Championship. On June 28, 1986, Martel would win the AWA Women’s Championship for a third and final time from Candi Devine.

On July 24, 1987, “Sensational” Sherri debuted in WWE, pinning her trainer and mentor the Fabulous Moolah to become Women’s Champion. Sherri defended the gold against Debbie Combs, Velvet McIntyre, and Desiree Peterson.

She quickly earned the reputation as someone who would do anything to win, even if it meant using unsavory tactics. Her rivalry with Moolah continued as they became the captains for the first-ever female Survivor Series teams in 1989. Sherri held the championship for 15 months before losing to Rockin’ Robin.

In the early ‘90s WWE phased out the Women’s Division, leaving Sherri to focus on managing the male wrestlers. Her first client was “Macho Man” Randy Savage. It was during this time that she became “Sensation Queen.”

The couple had rivals with Miss Elizabeth, Hulk Hogan, Dusty Rhodes and Sapphire. In 1991, “The Million Dollar Man” Ted DiBiase enlisted her services. After that relationship dissolved, she took on the managerial duties of Shawn Michaels.

In 1994, Sherri appeared in WCW as “Sensuous” Sherri managing Ric Flair during his rivalries with Sting and Hulk Hogan. After separating from Flair, she became “Sister” Sherri guiding Harlem Heat to seven WCW Tag Team Championships.

Sherri was enshrined in the WWE Hall of Fame in 2006. “Million Dollar Man” Ted DiBiase was her presenter.

he either owed someone some serious money or actually killed vince mcmahon or something. It really sucks too cause he was one of my alltime favorite wrestlers.

jesus. first eddie, now chris.

what's the average lifespan for a wrestler - 42?

i'm still waiting for details. i can't picture chris going nuts and killing himself and his family. this is fucked up.

Damn, this is horrible. I loved to watch this guy. Built like a brickshit house, actually had talent, dude just oozed intensity just standing there.

Atlanta, GA (AHN) - Professional wrestler Chris Benoit and his family were found dead inside their Atlanta home Monday evening, and although law enforcement officials are not providing details about the grisly scene, reports say they were not shot to death.

This is bad and one thing that will make it worse is if he went off. They will say it was the infamous roid rage.

Christ, he was the best wrestler I have ever seen and now he's gone. I really hope it was because of carbon mono or something like that rather then a phil hartman thing.

Wrestling star Chris Benoit, his wife, Nancy, and their 7-year-old son Daniel were found dead in their suburban Atlanta home Monday. The deaths are being investigated as a possible suicide and double homicide, authorities told ABC News.

Lt. Tommy Pope of the Fayette County Sheriff's Department told ABC News that Benoit had missed several appointments over the weekend, leading concerned parties to ask police to do a "welfare check." When sheriffs arrived at the Benoits' home, they found the wrestler, his wife, and their son dead.

holy cow.

first off, don't anyone think that Vince is dead, he's not and this has nothing to do with it..........obviously Chris aced his family and then turned on himself.........I'm speechless though, don't get it at all..........as I said, I hope Vince drops the angle for a moment and comes out and say's something on Benoits' behalf........he owes him that.

just watched a big story on this here in atlanta. they are treating it as a murder suicide. said no guns were involved. freakin' sad as crap. a seven year old kid?!! grrrr.

Possible scenarios...

The wife was getting back with Kevin Sullivan (her previous husband) Chris arrived, confronted her and killed everyone.

Kevin Sullivan did it.

Intruder knifed them all to death.

Autoeroticasphixiation.

WOW!!! This dude has a condo unit in my building. I met him a couple years ago when he was in town. I remember he had more than 1 kid w/him though. I was thinkin' two.

See that is why we missed you!

the human chainsaw. buzz you up one side then the other. guy was built like something from middle earth. RIP.

Or maybe the wife killed the kid, called Beniot with some fake emergency to get him to come home, killed him when he got there and then killed herself.

remember Phil Hartman? He was killed by his wife.

ya never know. Lotsa q's abound.

Benoit was part of the gang that used to come to my gym whenever the WCW road show was in town. He looked a lot bigger in person than on TV.

On the same channel that broadcasted the 3 hour Chris Benoit tribute they aired the Lacy Peterson story after.

He also missed Sat. match, because he told wwe he had a "family emergency".

He also sent "curios text messages" to friends on Sunday morning, and concerns over the messages were relayed to WWE representative Richard Hering

Here is a copy of the story...

WWE.com is reporting that the Fayette County Sheriff's department in Georgia has informed WWE that Chris, Nancy, and Daniel Benoit died as a result of a double murder-suicide. As reported by the AP and local Atlanta TV affiliates, an autopsy performed on Tuesday will reveal more about the circumstances surrounding the deaths. Official toxicology results will not be available until early July.

WWE provides a timeline on the events in the deaths:

- Benoit was not at the Smackdown/ECW house show in Beaumont on Saturday, or in Houston for the Vengeance PPV due to what Benoit informed WWE as a family emergency.

- Benoit sent "curios text messages" to friends on Sunday morning, and concerns over the messages were relayed to WWE representative Richard Hering.

- Richard Hering spoke to local authorities on Monday morning, requesting a "wellness check" at the Benoit residence.

- Local authorities found the bodies of Chris, Nancy, and Daniel at 2:30 p.m. on Monday afternoon after. Initial evidence has led authorities to believe Nancy and Daniel were killed sometime during the weekend, then Benoit killed himself on Monday.

-- WWE officials in Corpus Christi were informed of the deaths at 4:00 p.m. WWE then held a meeting with wrestlers and talent, informing them of the deaths.

what the hell happened??? was he depressed, on anti-depressants, divorce? people don't just go off on the deep end and whack their family and themselves?

you're right - watch them start doing specials again on the evil of steroids.

Seriously. If he did it, then it completely destroys his legacy. Sure, he was a great wrestler...but I don't think that anyone can forgive anyone killing their own kid.

He did do it. What a sick fuck. The worst part is how he killed his kid the day after he killed his wife. I can't even imagine what his kid went through from the time his mother was murdered by his dad up until the time his own dad murdered him. Sick!!!

I don't guess money and fame makes you happy afterall.

Some people are never satisfied.

it'll be interesting to see him be "erased" from WWE history....i doubt he'll be mentioned much after the tribute show....

Who else has suffered this fate of being erased? Owen Hart. Ultimate Warrior (although not dead.)

i was gonna say.....a lot of the Canadian wrestlers seem to have fallen off the earth after wwe stints. or is it just the Hart family/& co.? the Von Erich? jeez. wrestling is fucking horrible. maybe MMA should take it's place....

Well they found his wife dead in the living room, his son dead in his bedroom and Chris dead in his gym.

Ever notice how parents that kill their kids nearly always do it in the bedroom. Wonder why that is?

Oh well. Fuck you Beniot for wasting my time making me remember you before we found out what you really did.

agree - no lower form of scum IMO

i wonder if wwe has any bad feelings about their tribute show now? i think it would embarass them when it came out, everyone talking about how great of a family man he was, blah, blah, some family man killing ur own kids

well whatever the reason or way he did it im sure it will further piss me off about the situation. i dont even spank my 9 year old son.

I think Vince knew that he had killed them before the news was reported by the media. That is why the WWE hurried up and rushed the tribute that they did last night. Because they had to do something to address it and they needed to do it before the news came out what he had really did. That way they could always claim "oh we didn't know that at the time" when people complain that they honored a murderer.

He has already been erased from WWE's site and stopped selling any of his merch.

He called WWE fri. to tell them he could not come to the Sat. event, because his wife and son were throwing up blood.

He never showed up to the Sun. PPV where he was to win the belt. Sometime on Sun. he sent Chavo strange text messages. He contacted wwe, and they called the police to check on the family.

i can see that, it just seemes as though they were really pushing the he was a great family man, how wonderful his relationship was with his son angle, soemthing really fucked up must have been going down for him to react like that, its terrible

just saw this on wwe rumor page
TMZ.com is reporting that several Atlanta-based law enforcement sources told them that Chris Benoit may have strangled his wife Nancy on Saturday, then smothered his 7-year-old son, Daniel, in his bed a day later on Sunday. On Monday, he then hung himself, reportedly in the weight room of his Georgia home

Geez here we go again. Blaming steriods for the deaths.

TLANTA (AP) -- Pro wrestler Chris Benoit strangled his wife and smothered his son before hanging himself in his weight room, a law enforcement official close to the investigation told The Associated Press Tuesday.

The official spoke on the condition of anonymity.

Authorities also said they are investigating whether steroids may have been a factor in the deaths of Benoit, his wife and their 7-year-old son who were found dead in an apparent murder-suicide.

Fayette County District Attorney Scott Ballard said test results may not be back for weeks or even months.

Autopsies were scheduled Tuesday by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation in DeKalb County.

Investigators believe Benoit (pronounced ben-WAH) killed his wife, 43-year-old Nancy, and son Daniel during the weekend and then himself Monday. The bodies were found Monday afternoon in three separate rooms of the house, off a gravel road about two miles from the Whitewater Country Club.

Fayette County Coroner C.J. Mowell did not return calls seeking comment. The answering service for his funeral home said he was out of town.

Authorities also declined to say whether drugs or steroids were found inside the house. "We're not releasing any information as far as what was located inside the house," sheriff's Sgt. Keith Whiteside said Tuesday.

Asked about the condition of the interior of the house, Whiteside said investigators found "nothing really out of the ordinary." He said Benoit was found in the home's weight room, his wife in an office and the son in an upstairs bedroom.

Whiteside said toxicology tests could take up to a week or longer to complete.

Neighbors said the Benoits led a low-key lifestyle.

"They were nice," said Lorre Jones, who lives across the street. Her daughter Alaina said: "We would see Chris walking in his yard from time to time. He wasn't rude, but he wasn't really outwardly warm."

Jimmy Baswell, who was Benoit's driver for more than five years, placed a white wreath at the Benoits' gate Tuesday.

"I saw him with his family all the time," said Baswell. "They always seemed like they were the happiest people."

World Wrestling Entertainment said on its Web site that it asked authorities to check on Benoit and his family after being alerted by friends who received "several curious text messages sent by Benoit early Sunday morning."

The WWE, based in Stamford, Conn., said it had been asked by authorities not to release further information on the deaths.

Benoit, born in Montreal, was a former world heavyweight champion, Intercontinental champion and held several tag-team titles. His names in the ring included "The Canadian Crippler."

"WWE extends its sincerest thoughts and prayers to the Benoit family's relatives and loved ones in this time of tragedy," the company said in a statement on its Web site.

Benoit had maintained a home in metro Atlanta from the time he wrestled for the defunct World Championship Wrestling. The Fayette County Tax Assessors Office lists the value of the house, situated on more than 8.5 acres, at nearly $900,000.

The WWE canceled its live Monday Night RAW card in Corpus Christi, Texas, and USA Network aired a three-hour tribute to Benoit in place of the scheduled wrestling telecast.

Benoit's wife managed several wrestlers and went by the stage name "Woman." They met when her then-husband drew up a script that had them involved in a relationship as part of a story line on World Championship Wrestling, the newspaper said.

Benoit has two other children from a prior relationship.

Benoit became a standout at an early age among wrestling prospects who trained in the dungeon basement of the house where fellow Canadians and professional wrestlers Owen and Bret Hart trained. Owen Hart was killed during a wrestling event in 1999.

"He was like a family member to me, and everyone in my family is taking it real hard," said Bret Hart, a five-time champion with the World Wrestling Federation. The federation has since changed its name to World Wrestling Entertainment.

you guys are pretty naive if you dont think steroids could make an already crazy person more crazy aka deadly..

Sure they could but the REAL issue is that he was crazy in the first place. If a crazy person shoots up a Mickey D's you don't blame guns (unless you're a liberal)...you blame mental illness.

i'm just saying from my experience with taking juice.. it def changes your mind state and things that you think about.. so it could be the difference between a crazy person being just a crazy person.. or a crazy person snapping and killing someone..

Yes but you missed the point! A gun could also be the difference between someone just causing a scene at Mc D's and him killing everyone..... You still DO NOt blame the gun.

I repeat what was said earlier He was crazy to begin with. Thats the point!!!

i dont know if he actually snapped did he, he killed them over a period of 2 days, there had to be some rational thought involved

My guess is he found out somethign from his wife, either she was leaving, cheated on him, both... snapped and strangled her

next day he realized what he did and coulnd't live with it, decided to kill himself, but did not want to leave his son alone so he smothered him in his sleep, and did himself in.

NEW details from press conference.

ruled double murder suicide.

steriods were found in house

both wife and son confirmed to have died from asphyxiation. bodies were wrapped in blanket and a bible was places beside them. wife had blood behind head in sign of a struggle

autopsy says wife died friday, child most likely saturday morning and benoit later that day.

benoit hung self with pulley from weightlifting machine in gym

no suicide note left

CNN lead off the story twice today with 'were steroids involved?' without actually mentioning it at all in their fine report

I'm going to go ahead and blame jesus for this one, seeing as the bible was involved.

You would have to be a a typical lobotomized sheep to think roids make anyone kill people. Mentally ill assholes kill their family reguardless of their testosterone levels.

I thought he was a hardcore iron warrior for killing himself in the gym. Until I read he hung himself on the lat pulldown machine. Which is about as gay as hanging yourself from the powerrack after doing curls in it.

Maybe he had a pink dumbell in his mouth too.

think about how hard it was for a guy with a neck like that to hang, I bet he struggled a lot.

As for the gear being the problem I hardly think so, I blame Canada.

The way Edge talked on USA tonight it was strange. He said "he doesn't understand how this could happen" several times. Strange for sure.

This makes perfect sense now. His interview was after 10pm which is when the news broke that he murdered his family. I had nightmares about this shit all last night. Shit like bothers me to no end. I can't understand how someone could kill their child. Beyond comprehension.

it said he had a script for the roids and several other types of scripts. Basically a bunch of government dope so he was a legal junkie who finally completely flew off the handle in a script induced haze.

As you can imagine my phone rang off the fucking hook. What pisses me off is that the memory of the greatest technical wrestler ever is now replaced by the memory of the son of a bitch who killed his family.

it makes no sense

there's gotta be something missing. he had no history of 'being crazy', domestic violence calls, or anything that precludes someone going off the deep end.

was he on anti-depressants? did he have a chemical imbalance? guess we'll find out soon.

still, very sad. but he did not fit the profile of an oj, scott peterson or cutts. if ur in a rage, u kill a spouse then run. u don't off your family - and then yourself.

i read that in 2003 he and the wife had separated for a short time and she had a restraining order because he had made threats of harm. she eventually dropped it.

It is being said now that Nancy had a safety deposit box that will answer alot of questions about Chris when it is investigated.

My daughter got a few extra hugs and kisses today. I don't watch WWE or any of that stuff. Just saddening.
