Chiro Says, "No One Should Do Squats! They are Too Dangerous!" Is He Right?

Is My Chiro Right?

I just want to thank everyone who helped.

I did squats today with my adjusted form (wider stance, lower back arched, bar quite a bit lower on back, shins as close to vert as possible, breaking 90degree plain) and I was able to lift more for more reps, and zero stress on the lower back.

Unfortunately, I'm only able to use a hack squat right now (our gym doesn't have the full cage), but with the right form it seems to be a pretty damn good workout. I'm going to pressure them to get a cage, though.

when doing squats are you supposed to keep your shins in place? If not how far should they bend?

They should stay completely upright but for me..mine come fwd just a little. With knee wraps on and with a slightly wider stance...I can almost do it perfectly...

"Avoid Squats Like the Plague - They Will Destroy Your Body Over Time - Use Alternatives" - scary that there are actually a few who think this to be the case.... :-o

my chiro AND my chiro's clinical teacher both say.... do squats.
but they emphasized gaining flexibility through regular stretching of hamstrings and achilles, and watching the hip rotation; ie don't go low until you can do it properly or else.. back and knee issues. But squats are good!

The best kind of chiro IMO is not going to tell to stop doing something but rather tell you how to do it so you don't FUBAR yourself. A good chiro will never make you dependant on them and should be helping you to strength your weak area and what is messing you up in the first place. Just my 2cents.

To be honest as a former track athlete I got better definition from doing sprints then squats. At one point in time I had over a 40 in vertical and I never squatted. When I did squat . I was able to squat 315/365 without regularly doing the exersize.

I don't believe they are essential
