Cellphone yakking and driving... AGAIN

Head-On Collission Stops Traffic on Highway 118 - Moorpark, CA Patch

I'm so sick of this happening, and especially in my face right in front of our house. I am on a rant, and this is just too much. We all know that any distraction from driving is dangerous, and talking on a phone and putting yourself out in space (WHETHER YOU KNOW IT PUTS YOU OUT IN SPACE OR NOT), is often deadly. In this case, a teen girl has a rearranged face, and too many broken bones to count. We watched as the fire dept had to winch the transmission and front left wheel of the Accord off the driver's seat! And in addition to the girl, her boyfriend and an 8-week-old puppy got all banged up. I have little mercy for the people, but I called the Ventura County Animal Services this morning, and pledged some funds for the puppy, which is at the county dog pound vet hospital.

WHY WHY WHY does anyone need to talk on a phone while driving??? Hwy 118 has shoulders most all the way along through here to pull over onto, if there is a life & death reason to need to call somebody. The speed limit is 55, and most everyone speeds at 70-75, meaning the phone chat = a 140-150 mile-per-hour crash in this case.

sad, i don't mind talking on phone, texting is when i almost crash

Talking on your cell phone while driving is illegal in CA. Hopefully somebody files some charges.

i didn't know that. i think it's funny you can smoke pot in cali but talking on a phone is illegal.

Texting will probably erase all the gains we've made in the fight against drunk driving over the last 30 years.

It's perfectly legal to text an order to the local marijuana dispensery while driving to pick up some hashish

Because people stupidly think they can get away with shit like that...until something like this happens.

Talking is nearly as bad. Can't count how many times I see someone doing something stupid on the road....then see a phone stuck to the side of their face. When I see shit like that it really makes a true retard look smart by comparison.

As a teen, I masturbated while driving my parent's station wagon at night.

luckily no one else was in the car. that would be awkward

People die from drinking coffee while driving too. It happens. Sad, but it happens. Should we regulate it?!

if someone can't talk and drive at the same time, they shouldn't be fucking driving cause they are too stupid

Talking on the celly and texting is a different animal, imo...

You can talk and still see everything, be aware, etc. Texting requires you to look down at your phone and not on the road, usually.

Shit you can be distracted by how awesome you look in the rear view mirror and rear end someone :)

I know damn well your shitty ass car doesn't sync

Did I say I needed to? No. I said other people. Lol

But I don't think talking on the phone is nearly as dangerous as texting while driving. I usually just set my phone to read texts out loud though if I'm going to be driving for a significant amount of time.

Also, it's not my fault my car is possessed. Thx. ;)

The problem is, that we shouldn't have to regulate any of it, but people are stupid in some cases. They outlawed phone talking while driving a couple years ago, then people texted. That pretty much sums up the intelligence level among CA drivers. Then when we outlawed texting last year, now people are probably going to have a cage of carrier pigeons in the back seat, and a note pad in their lap.... They'll get out a pen, write a letter, tuck it in a capsule under a pigeon, then stand out the sun roof to launch the carrier pigeon with the message so all-God-thundering important!

Unfortunately, some people don't see the consequences of their actions or believe that they can handle it (like the drinking and driving issues of the late 80s).

People will always find lots of interesting ways to kill themselves. I think that it's their own belief of importance. Make no mistake, I'm not better; but I don't text and drive. The carrier pigeon has got me thinking though...

Im gonna take a charcoal grill in my front seat and make smoke signals instead of texting

I talk on my phone all the time.. But I wear my iPhone headset with it every time. I hate talking without one. I never get distracted. I have text when driving but I make sure no one is near me or that I'm stuck in traffic. I've seen ppl talk and smoke, and girls put makeup on. It sucks but that's life.. Many things are dangerous. If the police actually did their job maybe it wouldnt be as bad..

This gives me a devilish idea... If I had a righthand-drive car, I could put a fake steering wheel on the left, and then sit low in the right seat and drive, while somebody pretends to be the driver but is turned around looking in the back seat; both hands texting, and with a newspaper draped over the steering wheel, and a cup of coffee on the dash, and a big-screen TV dropping down from the visor... And go up & down Sunset Blvd at rush hour and see how long it takes (if ever) to get stopped.

according to the Insurance industry the #`1 cause of accidents is distracted driving..

smoking
eating
radio use
map
book reading
talking to someone in the car is a big one
the list goes on and on..

phone use?? I've used one since they were bricks, some of you weren't even born yet..

here's one for ya.. how about we stop allowing people less than 26 yrs old drive?? that would statistically lower accident and death in autos significantly..

... and give mandatory driving proficiency tests to anyone over 65.

She wont take a bottle? Oh my...lol I bet you would like for Chris to be able to feed her...what bottles have you tried?
playtex, breastflow and medela. it's not the type of bottle/nipples because she has had a few bottles in the past, she is just outright refusing. she is going to starve come Monday when I return to work lol

anyone that texts while they are driving should not be so stupid and admit it
because youre an idiot!!!
if you want to put your life in danger fine thats no problem
the problem arises when you want to put everyone elses life in danger
you people that text while driving!
ypure all losers

There are Albertos outside of SLC? Holy fuck that place rocks late night. Can't say I've ever eaten there unless I was wasted though.

Never been to CA? In San Diego you can go to any 4 way intersection and find Alberto's, Filberto's, Roberto's and just plain Berto's on every corner.

The only real time I spent in CA was in Monterey. So bad for you but so delicious.
