Carmelo Anthony traded to the Knicks....

Amar'e has played great from what I've seen. If these three play at a high level they can be good.

The Knicks just traded 4 starters. Amare is the only one left. It's a whole new team, and having chemistry between them all is going to take time. Not to mention, they are currently a 6 seed and I don't see them moving any higher, which means they are going to have to play someone legitimately tough in the first round.

Billups has said all along if he gets traded, he wants a buy out, either in season or after. He's from Denver and wants to retire there.

Im not even saying the knicks will get worse, in time they'll get good, but they wont contend against the bulls/heat. Thaats the whole issue that's just wrong with NYs front office, they did it with marbury and they just did it again. Got desperate and put all their chips in on a two pair. They had such a great confident young team that was just jelling and tossed it away for a star that handcuffs their future options. I love seeing teams develop, that's why I lol'd when cdub said I was" hating" like the twolves I loved watchin ny play. That's what this is about, the future, what the knicks did is made a retarded win now move like they were an elite team contending. They could of let those youngns develop like the thunder and went out and got a star this summer without trading anyone but they got impatient. Building to contend, theyre two stars will never be able to get over miami because they gave up any chance for building around them, sure they can afford old vets, a mle, but not solid role players like a pietrus, dwest, varajao, etc. This isn't lebron n wade, it's two scorers who neither play on the defensive side of the court with a non defensive coach. They're in their prime, they will want more money/same and their contracts are just too much for non leaders who are selfish ball demanding guys. They need a defensive anchor with defensive role players role players but all they're worried about is "how can we score another overpriced point gaurd". Just like starburys situation, they jammed themselves again for years and are not worried about competing against elite teams "dont worry bout emulating championship teams, let's shoot for a high powered offense to please the media and fans".

The young Knicks were easy to root for, but they would have never been the thunder. Gallo and Chandler are not consistent enough. That's why you'd see the Knicks offense completely disappear at times when amare was doubled or tripled. they needed another big time scorer.
We were a few games over .500 team with that squad, and thats right where we should be.

No, they're not good enough to beat the heat or celtics as structured. The bulls? If you actually watched the NBA redshirt, you'd know the Knicks have beat the bulls everytime they have played this season. That's one team the Knicks match up against well. It still pisses me off we have mozgov but I'll get over it.

I guarantee you this. The Knicks can be a real dangerous team come playoff time.
The whole point of this trade was not to win this year. It was to set the foundation for the next 4 or 5 years. Boston's window is closing, they probably have this year and next. Dwight Howard might be gone in 2012, possible to LA. The hawks have the same team they've had for 3 years. The bulls will be good but boozer staying healthy is always an issue. The heat are the clear frontrunnera once the celtics get too old.

So there is opportunity in the east.

And redshirt, again, 3 starters. Not 4. Stop pretending you watch NBA. fields and amare both have started every game. out of the guys traded, Chandler was gone no matter what and gallo is a sf like melo.

i'm not gonna lie lambruh...i just saw pics of gallo and mozgov at the Denver game. it was very hard to stomach. Gallo and felton really wanted to be in NY.....it's tough.

Gallo was made for NY.....but at the end of the day, the league is about superstars.

i was the biggest david lee fan but i wasn't too hung up on him leaving. i feel worse about gallo, felton and to a lesser extent mozgov.

eh. the knicks haven't played defense this entire decade, especially since d'antoni took over 3 years ago. so that's nothing new.

as far as waiting, donnie walsh said in his press conference today and on the radio that Melo was going to sign the extension with the nets traded for him... provided the knicks weren't going to get him. It was either trade for him or lose him. He wasn't going to risk losing $20 mil under the new CBA.

BUT.........in the nuggets press conference, the GM said Mozgov was a shot in the dark. Dolan gave the call on that to give him up. They could have kept him and it wouldnt have been a deal breaker. FML
