i am driving my t-bird along the road. and then it starts to feel like its loosing power.. at first its nothing, and then its starts to chug, and shudders when im giving it gas, untill it eventully comes to a complete stop,

me and my buddy push it for a bit, we try to start it again, the engine would turn, but would not start..

we push it some more, then we try to start it, and it starts, but it is still a bit chuggy but nearly as much as before.. i parked it then left it...

any idea's as to what it could be.. my friends said it sound like when his rod broke, but my car has 132000k on it, i maintain it well, and dont drive it like a manaic..

any help would be nive please..

thanks

Fuel filter, fuel pump...could be a dozen things. Pick up a haynes manuel at the auto store and diagnose it yourself.

i already have a hayenes, manual.. its just really dark, and i havent gotten a good chance to look at it...... I have a feeling its a fuel problem... but any idea's would be great

try adding one of those things that takes the water out of the gas. my friend had bad gas once and this helped his car run again

What HamsterHider said.I had the same problem last week, put in some of that water remover and it has run fine since then.

Fuel pump maybe a water pump. Could be lots of things. But those 2 things seem to go out without warning and causes a car to just cut off. If you're not that experienced a mechanic it might be easier to have a shop do a diagnostic on it. It's like $40 and can save you the aggrevation a replacing a good part.

Sugar

Sounds like a fuel problem. You didn't say if it was an old T-Bird or a newer. Carb vs Injectors. Anyway just pour a pound of sugar or a couple of quarts of Blackstrap Molasses into the gas tank. Have it towed in for repair. When the mechanic figures it out you can claim in under the comprehensive on your insurance. It was an act of Vandalism by an unknown perpetrator.

LOL @ Galen, My guess would be fuel filter/pump. Got any relatives or close friends that know anything about cars that would take a look at it?
