Don't care if the amp matches anything brand wise.

I'm a real Alpine Fan, had many over the years.

I want to get a new stereo and speakers for the Lexy but don't know what to look for. I know I don't want a hidden cd changer. I have one in the trunk now and I've never used it in all the years I've had the car. What are some in dash stereo brands to consider, and what ones should I avoid? Same with amp and speakers. I don't care about radio, there are no radio stations I listen to anyway. Its gotta be mp3 player friendly. Do I need to worry about some high school fuck up installing this in my car? I've penciled in about $1500-$2000, am I even in the right ballpark?

The Phoenix Gold Ti's are Morel Elates that are rebadged.

Boston Acoustics and Pioneer are big name companies.

Image Dynamics has been around forever and is heavily used by people that enter SQ (sound quality) competitions.

So where exactly am I listing no name shit? JL makes good equipment, hell I have two 10W3's in the garage right now, I'm not biased against them, but they're not the end-all-be-all like some people make them out to be.

Depends, what gauge wiring is in there right now? If you decide to go with the PG Ti6 Elites we're gonna put a big amp on them, they can take up to 450wrms a side without problems, in which case I don't think stock wiring will be enough. If we go with one of the other sets and throw 150-200w at them stock wiring should be fine. Stock wiring for the rears will be good enough either way, you only need some coaxial speakers in the rear running off of the head unit (~22wrms).
