how do you transfer a car you had in storage in florida with expired ohio plates and ohio insurance to the state of ohio when it's required to get an e-check in order to renew the tags and the car is 1000 miles away?

i know you can get something called an exemption with the dmv, but would that be the only way to do it?

i'm heading back to florida to move stuff to ohio and then california and trying to figure it all out.

pretty clueless though, as i have to get new insurance in september, and it takes a few weeks for the exemption to go through....

would gifting the title to a family member when the car is out of state work, or is that impossible?

this stuff is tricky, any help would be greatly appreciated.

I brought a car from az with az plates to fl, now I'm gonna garage it and wanna terminate insuranse but its such a fucking mess I'm just gonna keep paying ;) /rant

Good luck

there has to be an easier way. if you get a car stuck somewhere it's impossible to get it out without dropping $500.

Upgrade to gold membership brah, pretty sure they have unlimited towing miles. If not, max out the miles then pay to have the rest towed.

didnt think you could tow more than 200 miles per household though even with a gold one. need to make sure and double check to see how much that would save me.

I have been driving a car I bought in Colorado over two years ago in California and never registered it. I have put over 80,000 miles on it. Don't drive like an idiot and you won't get pulled over.

There's got to be some sort of grace period for getting a car registered after you've relocated. It's not like there's a DMV checkpoint you have to drive through to ensure your tags are up to date.

Maybe you'd be better off selling it where it is, then replacing it when you've moved.

yeah, for 515 bucks unless you know someone that can do it or would do it for you.

What costs more, $515 for towing, or getting it licensed and insured where it sits? Pick the least expensive option.

i peeled a label off a bottle of budweiser and stuck it on my buddy's windshield right over top of his inspection sticker...he drove around like that for a week before he noticed it and peeled it off...never got pulled over.

if i send my dad the title and power of attorney, can't he get 30 day temp tags for it?
