Cable TV Descramblers. Do they work?

I've known people who have had them in the past, but now with digital TV I'm not sure if they can work.

Just as an example, I have Cablevision and the Optimum online and phone, all three in a packages together. Just wondering if they work.

Most cable companies have eliminated the majority of their analog channels, and the descramblers only worked on analog channels. Don't know of any for digital channels at this point.

Pretty soon they'll ALL be digital

It's only a matter of time before you start getting live feeds of cable off the internet.

Get digital bro. I can't live now w/o my DVR unit.

these are just frequencies, not encrypted, all it can be descrambled including digital, I dont do it, time and money to get it up and running but you can research how to do it on the web.

Hmmm, NJ huh? I just got rid of my Dish network programming. I had DirectV as well. Now I have cable TV. Personally, I liked the sat better. I had the "hookup" for sat channels before Black Sunday hit a long time ago and never looked into it after that.

Which sat service are you refering to? Dish or DirecTV?

and thanks for the replies.

There are programs out there that can allow you to run the digital line through the computer, out to your TV. If you decide to get a chip descrambler for an old box, solder a jump wire from the first pin to the last pin just in case they spike the cable line with a power surge. :Chef: :tuc:

the problem with getting "free" programming is that it's never stable. If you "have a guy" that does it, then you have to rely on him every time it goes down to read up and learn of a new fix, which can translate to days even a week+ without TV. If you do it yourself, then you always have to keep up with the altest fixes/programs and spend a lot of time stressing, trying to figure out when it's going to go down again. I gave all that crap up after the P3's

i know of a guy who had dish network...he cancelled the service, kept his dish however. he installed a program on his comptuer that hacks every satellite channel/service out there...the only thing is the satellite needs to be plugged into his computer first, then from there its feeds to his tv's in his house....he gets all the XM/ Sirius stations, plus god knows how many tv stations.....all the PPV, even foreign shit that you couldnt normally get in the US. all you need is a satellite dish, video card with a tv tuner, and the free software .

Anybody ever heard of a "blackhawk" receiver. Supposedly gets all stations on both networks. Programmed to pick up signals bypassing direct/dish.???

and from my experiences, you can get some sort of little device to put in the back of the descrambler..because on occasions, cable companies put out surges to fry the illegal boxes
trust me i know this, someone i knew had bought the little thing that looks like a coax cable thingy but put it on the wrong side, and when they sent out the surge, it fried the machine

From what I remember it was called Emulation. The computer is a pos one that you keep plugged in behind the TV, in a closet, in your trunk (no) and it tells the sat signals that you do have permission to view the channels or whatever. It is more complicated than that, but that's all I know about it. lol This was 5 years ago, I'm sure there's version 5 kazillion happeneing right now.

I still have a couple of the old H cards from DirecTV. I just cancelled Dishnetwork last week and still have my dish up. Taking it down in 5....4...3.....

Anyway, it was nice to watch all the UFC's and movies/PPV and Porn 24/7 for free.. Is what people tell me.
