Breaking News - Devastation! East Coast Earthquake 2011

I like an occasional earthquake. Last one we felt in Sand Diego was a small one with an epicenter somewhere out in the desert. One of our newer engineers is not from CA and he got up an ran out of the building.

LOL!!!! I saw that picture on TV this morning. It's like when we get a "deep freeze" in Los Angeles, and all the homeless get rounded up and put in emergency shelters, and all the cactus and banana trees die if left outside unblanketed, etc etc.... When the freeze is so hard that it dips all the way down to 47 degrees!!!!!!

this statement couldnt be more true

If the northeast media treated this quake like the disasters that slam the rest of the USA, they would never catch their breath from nonstop reporting and memorializing

don't hate on us for being smart enough to live in a place that isn't constantly slammed by tornados, hurricanes and messicans

You know, everytime I get fed up with the cost of living in So Cal, or the overcrowding or high taxes - all I need to do is look at the weather forecast for the rest of the US and suddenly all is well again. I'd probably shit my pants if I saw a tornado or coming towards my home or had to board up for an impending hurricane.

New York is probably the safest place to be in terms of Quakes and Canes.
I didn't feel anything, the hurricane is a rarity here too.
If one does hit it could fuck NY up bad.

Only once every 20 years or so.

Our biggest problem is turning out to be minutemen. We're suddenly overrun by guys with mesh trucker caps, handle bar mustaches and Dickies ranch jackets.

Eventually....but it looks like it's gonna hit me down in NC just about dead on. I'm gonna ride this bitch out unless it somehow bumps up to a cat 5.
Thats What MR/Mrs weather say. Im on the water and dont want my truck flooded. still debating on driving west a few hours or enjoying my last week in hurricane zone. Wasnt Katrina a Cat 3? I'm not even sure how many feet above sea level I am here :worried:

You know what, it was. Hmm. I don't know, I live right on the water too, but we're built for these kinds of storms. My brother rode out a category three down here years ago and he lived in a shambly old house that had no worse damage than a couple of lost shingles. I guess I'll play it by ear....we're a day away from accurate predictions. If they recommend an evacuation, I'll go visit some family in charlotte. Otherwise I'm just gonna go over to a friends house with lots of food and alcoholic beverages and do the hurricane party thing.

Chances are the initial hit in your area will weaken it. i'll plan about the same as you.
