bobcat or mountian lion

I love cougars. I think we should really try to let them make a comeback. They are our only big cat.

Oh, I absolutely agree but you know everything boils down to money. The Department of Wildlife could export some of the black hills lion population to their more traditional haunts but it's cheaper to solve their localized problem by eliminating them and collecting harvesting monies.

i like them as well but they are some scary fuckin animals when you see them out in the wild. I live in an area they are not suppose to be, but many people in the area have seen them around. Heard a story of someone having a male/female as pets, animal control found out and when they went to take over the cats the guy let them go. They never were caught but many farmers and hunters in the area have see them, they now think they have bred!!!! We are not suppose to have bobcats nor cougars and we have both

We weren't supposed to have cougars in eastern kentucky but we did when I was a kid. I played in the woods EVERY DAY and I never had any of the cougars or bobcats make an appearance. It was only the wild dogs that you would have to worry about hurting people. The cats were only a danger to the livestock.

Comeback? There's so many out here now that the deer & sheep population are suffering and will need rescue, and the elk that were in the Southern Sierras haven't been seen in a couple years. The bear population has come up a lot too.
People act so ridiculous when a cat attacks a human, like they're surprised or something!

I think that the one that is indigenous only to Florida is nearly extinct, isn't it? Otherwise, I didn't know that there were so many. Usually a really good bunch of watchdogs do a good job of protecting the livestock.

Wish they'd export some of them to Pennsylvania. Deer are hooved rats as far as I'm concerned. There are stretches of highway you can go down and pass ten dead dear within less than half that amount of miles. Frigging bleeding hearts have stopped a lot of areas from being hunted ("BUT THEY'RE PRETTY" "THEY'RE NATURAL" "THEY WERE HERE FIRST.") Yeah, pretty, plus they'll eat anything green and most of them are infested with deer ticks carrying Lyme disease.

Yes they most certainly are a part of the natural environment, IN CONJUNCTION WITH THEIR PREDATORS. There's a reason why a deer has 2 calves every year, frigging things are meant to be FOOD.

My dad would go shoot his limit. lol.

Maybe they should up the limit for the deer hunters?

The problem is deer reproducing where there is hunting. We already have to have yearly hunts in state parks.

Neither cars nor hunters are not as effective at herd control as natural predators.
