bleeding injection sites

last couple times injecting my right glute, when i pull the pin out, a shitload of blood comes out with it.

iv aspirated and everything was good to go.

does this just mean i went through a vein on the way in?

anything to worry about, or is it no big deal?

Sometimes if you pull out too fast you inadvertently pull the needle out at an angle if you are not careful. This can cause the sharp tip of the needle to slice open a vein. Just clean the blood off and make sure to sanitize the site with alcohol before applying a band aid. If you didn't start coughing your ass off it probably didn't get into your blood stream. Nicking a vein happens quite frequently.

I sometimes find that happens to me, especially when in my leg! i just use a betadine solution and wrap it up for a bit with a band aid or plaster depending on the flow. I find Betadine a great solution for injections, much better than the alcohol wipes and stops bruising that you can sometimes get!
