here i nhe next few days i bet some of you we're going to have some little kids come post about their 700lb max bench bress.. give it 24 hours, hehe

It's not about how much u bench...it's about how u look when you have your shirt off!!!! I've seen fat ass MFs come in and bench 450+. I'd rather look hard and muscular and only bench 400+ then look like shit!!!! :fro:

you 're right buc.that used to be me when i was over 200 lbs.that's why i dropped bodyfat and can see abs now plus have a decent bench.i love the bench meets but i train the whole body.definately not fat.i guess to each his own........:alien:

i am 190 5'10...bench about 350-360 4-5 reps depending on what i ate that day...not sure about the 1 rep max though;)

I agree with Big Buck........I'd rather bench 100lbs and look great then bench 500lbs and be a fat ass or chubby, take your pick....BTW my best is 380 for 3 never did one rep max...

Best bench was about 3 months ago - 555 lbs. (10) 45's and (2) 25's. At the time I was weighing 255 at around 12% bf. Now I'm off that cycle and weigh 247 at 9-10% bf and can still bench 505 (did it last Saturday)

we're gonna start smellin something soon. :)

my best is 385lbs that was when i was on a cycle. now im around 300-325.

A pair of 5lb dumbells with straps a vest weight belt and my dog Lassie for a spot. Only soiled myself once during the last of 6 forced reps.:D

don't bench cause of my shoulders, but 300 on incline 7 times tonight. I'm 210 and on a test/d-bol/deca cycle right now. Am I pretty weak???

I have a feeling you already know the answer to that question.... You have a big mental problem if you consider that weak..

john
I go to a private gym at work so no one is around to compare to. Bad thing is, I look like I could only put up about 135:mad:

Here here!

I agree. I know dudes who are strong as hell, and look like fat or bloated marshmallows.

Then next time someone IMs me and says "hey dude, how much do ya bench" I am goona puke.

I benched today... did 225 for 9, and had slight help on 10. Up from last thursday of 225 for 6 with help on 7. I have been working out noe for approx 9 weeks, and started at 290. I am now at 264 and dropping weekly. Still Fat , but getting there. I will post some before and afters in about 2 months or so.

Fat Guy ---> Soon to be InShapeGuy

i love these strenght posts..lets me show how strong i am..NOT

Ive never lifted any weight that i couldnt handle for 8 reps. so 220 is the most ive ever lifted on bench

well being 16 y/o 5'7" and 160 lbs, and have been going to the gym only 3 monthes now.
I never truely tried to max yet, but today was my best day yet, i did 190 x 5 and that was fuking dumb because i did it without a spotter. Oh well, i can't wait to try out my 1 rep max when my partner comes back.

This summer all i am doing is gaining strength and mass, seriously high weights with 1-7 reps. I will be doing this untill fall is over, once winter and spring comes, ill be doing nothing but getting cut, i can't wait till next summer.

Is winter and spring enough to get cut, or will it take more or less? i want to gain as much strength and mass as possible but need time to get cut before next summer.

555--------?:(

My gym has an "olympic" bar or so I'm told that I put that weight on. Supposedly the collars weigh an extra 5 lbs each therefore making the 555. Now thats your math lesson for the day solidspine - so post your best bench!

My best bench was 405@198 when I was 20. I'm 6'2 and that was without powerlifting accesories or gear. Although I am much happier with the way I look now, (leaner and harder) I am not totally sure I agree w/ what Big Buck said. Just an opinion.

2 years ago i put up 315 after on 1 year of seriously working out........ and 240 for 12.........

hmmm......... i was 200lbs then......i have since competed in two bodybuidling shows......... i brought my bf% down from 22% to 16%(offseason).........i dont know...... i was working out with 225lbs on bench for 8 reps 6 months ago when i was in the middle of my contest diet

now im working out with 110lb dumbells for sets of 4-6

i only can wonder

385 raw and 375 in competition, this at a body weight of about 165, many years ago.

Nowadays, after 2.5 years out of the gym and back for about 4 months now, I haven't 1RM'd yet, but hit 265x4 as my last set of 4 (205x10, 225x10, 245x8, 265x4) last week @ a BW of 195....

i just got back from the gym and did 220 x 3 HOLY SHIT i never knew i could lift so much, i always went easy, past week ive been trying to max but i am still scared to do the 1 rep max since i have no partner and the gym was practicaly empty today so i had no spotter.

No ill go and kill myself from all this pain!!!!

Thats abit silly dude

What would you have done if you could not have gotten it off your chest?

its not pretty

I have been there in a previous life

Rolling a barbell down your body and then trying to sit up with it on you in a potentially extremely painful place (yeah you get the idea) aint no fun, then trying to figure out how to lift it off you is the next problem.

Get a spotter

The fear you feel when you realise SUDDENLY you dont have the strength to re-wrack it is something you dont forget. Its like,"Damn, what the hell do I do now?"

MrMuscle, I've seen your picture and you don't look weak to me.

As for my bench, well let me tell you of my enormous feats of strength: I have benched a massive 165lbs recently for a mammoth 6 repetitions, plus a couple of forced ones afterwards. Well, at least I don't need to bs anyone about my bench. When it all comes down it doesn't really matter anyhow.

hardgainer (still hard and still gaining)

Here comes the post you've all been waiting for 455 x 6. It's on video so if anyone's interested in confirming it just pop over to HeatherDarling.com or BigHeatherD.com and check it out.

i agree i am a bb not a power lifter

"To get the actual max of everyones bench press"
take whatever they say they can bench and subtract 30-50 lbs:D

started weightlifting agian from 2 years ago, been doing it for 2 months now, I can do 258 lbs for a 1 rep max.

175lbs, 5"11

f@ck it 600@275. which is average at my gym so don't run your mouths.

240# Not too dedicated though, up till then. I know I have lots more potential if I stick with it.
Got to see a guy at our college gym bench something like 515#.
That was pretty cool. Didnt see a shirt though, unless he had one underneath his shirt.

240# More of a narrow grip, suicide grip. Not too dedicated though, up till then. I know I have lots more potential if I stick with it.

I really don't use barbell anymore, I stick to dumbells. I can hit 150's for 2 sets of 8-10. I just don't max on bench.

I've got a friend who did 600lbs (gym not platform) at a bodyweight of I believe 176lbs. (The only reason I mention a club lift is his "club" was a hardcore powerlifting gym that had 3 meet judges evaluating his lift for tournament form. All three judges gave him the thumbs up.) He got meet lifts 3 times of 595lbs... but never got the 600lbs in tournament. He had lifts of over 500lbs more than 40 times in competition.

There was a long thread about this ages ago in chat.

I've abandoned flat barbell bench as well.... Last time I did it, which was probably close to 5 months ago... I was doing sets of 5 with 230... very weak for my bodyweight...

I've switched to incline Barbells as my main chest movement and I'm repping sets of 5 at 195 now... I have experienced WAY better growth since moving to inclines... I still do 2 sets of flat dumbell bench press as an accessory movement... but am much more of an incline fan these days.

Thanks

Wow!!! That is very impressive. Unfortunately, unless you are a man named Heather, you are full of shit. The most any human female has ever bench pressed is 450 lbs, done by Karen Sizemore of Ohio. That was for a single, it was done in front of 3 IPA judges in a double denim shirt with tons and tons of witnesses.

I myself must disagree for myself personally, with what BigBuck has to say. I am a powerlifter, for me, it IS about how much you can lift, not what you would appear to be able to lift. I am amazed if they are telling the truth at how many extremely strong individuals there are on this board.

I myself have benched 505 in a powerlifting meet. I weighed 233 lbs when I weighed in for that meet. I have benched 500 at 220 before in a meet. Hundred or more witnesses for each of these lifts. I have also done a 565 lb 2 board press. This is on video. And Tommy Fannon's site has some old videos of me benching going as high as low 500's on reverse band press.

Oh, and I am five seven and about 235 to 240 as I type this, and dead sexy.

And SofaGeorge, who was your freind? I believe those numbers you are talking about are very near, if not exceeding, the all time world record at 181 bodyweight. Mike Bridges never even benched that much. Trying to think of who he could be.

B.

I think I had out to Karen at that meet Benchmonster, not sure but think that was it. Her lock out is awesome.

wow... I'm 19 and 165lbs, I started 5x5 a few months ago.. when i started lifting I could only do 95lbs 8 times with poor form.. my latest so far is 145lbs 5x5.. not sure how that calculates into a max, but I know its not much.. its crazy to see 15 year olds and 16 year old kids benching well over 200, who apparently just started... it seems I was a very weak person.. but I'm happy wtih my gains and looking forward to more in the future

19, 195lbs 6' tall, lifting for a year and a half

Maxed at 305 a month and a half ago, currently repping 245x7

I just started taking creatine again so I expect to make some nice gains, goal is to max at 330 this summer and 350 this winter.

Wow there are some seriously strong lords in here! I feel puny! Anyways, this past Monday I got 275 x 10 but I haven't maxed out so I'm guessing if I could do that, I could put up 320-330 hopefully. I'll try next week. I'm 6'2" 225lbs and not sure what my BF is.

My personal best was 375 for a single,(shirted). My best raw bench was 335. I have lost ground with my bench over the last ten weeks of prep-training for my meet tomorrow, down to 350-360, but have put 100+ on my squat and dead lift!:D

Kinda' sucks but a heavy bench doesn't win meets!

It's noteworthy that the range with the highest numbers is about where it ought to be 250-350lbs. Even allowing for BS and guys getting a LOT of help with spotting 300lbs is at the high end of what most ought to aim and just about be capable of.

I've a few books from the 195o's and after and the numbers they suggested were always 200 press, 300 bench, 400 squat and a 500 deadlift.
