Ok, so despite being a nattie, I am learning ALL ABOUT STEROIDS cause I love you lads (despite some of you NOT doing the research you should).

I assert this is true cause I just read the first 20 pages of Anabolics 2005 (copy in my gym) while doing my walking on treadmill cardio.

Also, it is related to my job, a lot of it is endocrinology and biochem, and being the science type geek that I am, I do find it really interesting.

If some of you had read this intro, most of your questions would be answered.

So, I am wondering what anabolic guide books you have read, you would recommend, the most comprehensive...........................

I am listing a few, if you know of any others, please let me know.

The Steroid Bible stinks. Outdated reprinting of other stuff.

Roberts and Llwellins books are good. Even the old WAR book is pretty good. For usage my books are good. :) For basic info on individual steroids there are a million sites you can go to these days.

Ditto.
I think in this age of readily available internet information, the books on gear are outdated and not needed.

I think books can serve a purpose. They do provide a concise format for information that is easy to follow. The internet has changed everything though. Now it is very easy to get information. I remember I had to order Duchaine's book via mail order back in the day and it was hard to get. Now I can download that and every other book in seconds via torrents.

Duchaines book was ground breaking but a lot of info was off base. Then again, a lot of internet info is wrong too. The gear profiles.com on this site is mostly from Bill Phillips 1990 book and may not be cutting edge, but for the most part, explains quite well what each compound does. I'd be happy if more people understood that much before arguing minutea.

When in university, it is not advised to use internet sources, unless they are university or research sites, as the information on them is not peer-reviewed, which means that experts have looked over the research and deemed it accurate.

You need to check your sources CAREFULLY, any idiot can set up a webpage now, and you may not be aware of their motives for doing so.

There is one website that claims BBing to be the work of the devil, or sites that claim that their are human footprints next to dinosaurs, so would you consider that to be accurate information?

I think that it is unadviseable to go on internet sources alone.

Anabolics has a HUGE list of papers he references in the back.

Also, if you haven't noticed, those really interesting little articles in muscular development magazine are all summaries of current research papers.

Thanks for the flowers Mr. Montana

:)

MISTER Montana?!

Anyway, the problem with "legit" info on steroids is that there isn't any research on bodybuilding applications, which is what we're all interested in. So a mix of the two is best and as far as which is more accurate is a judgement call -- hence all the controversy and varying opinions.

I think the Anabolics 2005-2007 by William Llewellyn's are Awsome...I have only read 2005-2006, but when first starting out i read those books front to back numerous times learning everything i could....They were a great tool for a New Gear user to understand the chemistry of what you are doing to your body and the substances you are putting in them...

Just to add to this Legal Muscle is a good book too, but it doesn't cover A.A.S. use per se but covers the legal stuff.
Bro I have been trying to get this book for a while. You wouldn't happen to have a pdf of Legal Muscle would you?

Also if anyone hasnt read anabolics 2007, let me know and I will post a copy.

It has a nice ring to it, Mr. Montana.

Feel free to call me Ms. Zadorozny (that's Zad-or-oz-knee, even though it really should be feminised to Zad-or-oz-nya) :)

You have a very valid point, the majority of the research on steroids is on

1. Elderly men who do not have a history of training

2. Hormone replacement therapy in men aged 40+ or those with androgen deficiency

3. Men who are HIV+

I think it would be difficult to get ethical approval for research, although there are a few studies being done.

Using men who have taken steroids also adds far too many variables, as most have taken all sorts of combinations of steroids.

Right now with the steroid witch hunt, what man would come forward to offer up thier assistance, it would probably be a really bad move in the current 'steroids are the root of all evil' in the USA right now.

I always liked WAR. Really, most books at that level are all the same, so books about individual compounds vary little. I haven't read any recent books on the subject, so I can't comment on them.

If one wants to learn of more detailed mechanisms, pharmacodynamics, adrenoreceptors or what have you, the next step is probably an academic text... but you're really gonna need some background to get a decent understanding.

Anthony's recommended some authors of higher-end books to me, but I haven't gotten the chance to check them out yet. With the research he's done, he probably has a good idea of what's out there.

Boy that was a fucking great book. Wow that really brings back some memories.
Back in 1990 I was getting ready for my first competitive BB teen event. Mr Teen Las Vegas Invitational (whick I won and took 3rd in the Mens middleweight at 18 yrs old). We had to send the book to my grandmas house and sneak in to her mail box before she checked the mail cuz we did not want our parents to see the book. Good Times.

Duchaine for old shit

Anabolics for recent

but the BEST and most DETAILED

"BUILDING THE PERFECT BEAST" That book is fucking UNREAL!!!!

L.Rea i think, I had some threads on it guys...

Boom! I'd love to read it! Can you post a link so I can download it?

anabolics 2007 was my favorite.

Also check out Building the perfect beast and chemical muscle enhancement by Author L. Rea. he has some interesting concepts but both books are filled with knowledge.

i tend to disagree with what Anthony Robert says alot of times, and i have read a pretty decent amount of these books.

Beyond Steroids seams good.

the Internet has definitely made it easy to get information on gear. But has also made it easy to get WRONG information

Hi wzkid and all,

Thanks for supporting the site as a Platinum Member - you support makes all this possible.

Would you mind not posting free copies of our ebooks and the ebooks of the other authors on the Net? This site stays online through the sales of our ebooks. Other sites are often fronts for drug dealing operations and since we don't do that, we need our ebook sales to make all this possible.

We also sure don't want to be sued by an angry author for these kinds of links.

If you would like to make some money, we will pay you a 50% commission on all the ebooks you sell for us. Please check out:
