Benching

About 10lbs back when I was 0. That was such a long time ago probably something embarassingly small I am sure.

Perp

i started with around 60lbs and i remember it being alot easier then i expected and i thought i was da man.... wanted to jump to something real "heavy" like 70 lbs... LOL

I remember Day One - first time in a gym - weak as piss. I could not bench the an olympic bar(45lbs) for 12reps. I kid you not. weighed 110lbs.

my bro on the other hand benched about 100lbs for 10 first day in at the same age. doubled that pretty rapidly on the way to weight gain of about 45lbs in the first year( no lie!)

First time i lifted was in october 2005, i was eating shit smoking 2 much pot and taking recreationals. Could only bench about 70 lbs, now i eat pretty clean, don't do drugs and can bench around 200 lbs x 5 and climbing.

In 8th grade, 1992, weighed about 150lbs, and did 80x5. I stayed with it as the weightroom was a positive place, and I always loved to life. I'd remember looking at the kids repping with 135 (a 45-lb plate on each side) and thinking, "wow, when I can do that, I'll be happy). My Sr. year of HS I benched 365 at 235lbs .

no kidding, biggt. thats awesome.

I remember back when I was like 16 I was happy to get 80lbs and 100 for 1 was a huge goal. At the end of highschool 200 for 1 wasa huge goal and I was so happy when I got it. I weighed 153lbs, played soccer, rugby, wrestled etc. could not gain weight at all.

I took 7 years off and this past december I was struggeling to get 95lbs for 5.

2.5 month's later I got 197 x 5 and 200 x 4, that's 100lbs to the bar in 2.5 month's. All thanks to madcow2 and his dedication to teaching people about the 5x5. Last week I ust started adding a protein shake to my diet, aside form that I am 100% natural.

Nice guys lol, I remember mine was like 60 lbs, I havent benched in a while since then, So I decided to put it into my routine, and ive started at 135lbs,Id say my max right now is about 180 or so. while my incline is at about 125lbs for a start.

I think I was in 9th grade and I took weightlifting for PE. First day of class they had everybody get on that bench press machine to get a baseline - the old universal weight stacks if anyone remembers those things.

Anyway, I got 1 hard rep at 90lbs. Back then I was a hoop player so I never liked to lift as it would 'mess up my shot'. So I skipped out of class and played ball the whole time, added to the fact I was too embarrassed to lift as I was one of the weaker guys there.

So finals rolls around and you have to beat your baseline. Of course I'd been deloading the entire semester  so they put the pin down to 100lbs. I slide under the handles and with one herculean effort (plus lots of squirming, wiggling, legs flailing and body twisting) I manage to get it and pass the class. All the while my friends were yelling encouragment 'cmon you got it' 'way to go' and 'all you' lol

i think the first time i truly benched i used about 65lbs or so. getting that first 45 on there....woooo! the big thrill of it. then the goal was to make that "warmup" weight. LOL!

I think i was more excited to get "the 50's" on incline db press, because we had about 4 of us working out, and it was a race to see who could get em first.

first time i was in the gym, that i can remember, was benching 95lbs. I still remember the first time I bench with a plate on each side. I was a freshman in HS, and this college guy bet me that if i could do one plate, then he would do 2. well, they loaded the bar up with my 1 plate, and I managed to push it out. Then the guy back out of his end of the deal. I felt like a champion for a day

When you guys just started benching, how much were you pumpin?

weighed 119 lbs in 9th grade and could barely get 55lbs. (yea the bar with a 5 on each side). couldnt even get 135 til i hit senior year of highschool.

That wasn't too long ago ago for me, but I think I did 85 for 8 reps my first time or something like that. I was also unstable as hell and didn't know what I was doing. :p

the first time i ever touched the bench press i did 120 for 1 rep, i was 12 years old... they were the shitt cement weights. shitty

lately, im not worrying about benching, im doin for a 500 pound dead and squat..

ill also focus more on military, seeing it doesnt hurt me at all

Bench hurts you, ya' big pussy?

very 1st time for me was 6th grade I got the 25's :D 85lbs. :D

I only lifted like 1moth a year. in school cause it was right at the end when there were not sports for me.. but made way up to 175 my junior year. just genetics 175 sure got me excited though ha ha..

and I really go into lifting when i turned 20 and my 1st max then was 195 to start me off on a real regiman... I am now 29

not sure if i even remember clearly... i'd have to guess i was at about 95lbs, as the "plates" (135lbs) were too much for me at the time...

i was 22...? i got a late start in all of this... :( never touched a weight through highschool, unless we were in the gym just goofing off...

goofed off a bit for several years, every now and then my buddy and I would play with his little plastic weights

when I decided to get serious, I was 17, and hit 180 x 2 @ 185 lbs. short arms and all that.

I remember feeling pretty pumpe when I was in 7th grade and I hit 95 lbs.

When I came to college and started getting serious I think I started at about 160 lbs. for a max. I felt good repping 135x5. A little over 2 years later I'm 30 lbs. heavier and repping 210x5 with a max of 255 lbs.
