At what point do you complain about a barking dog?

I'm normally home during the day because my regular hours are mornings and evenings. A woman down the hall owns a hound dog that while she is gone at work constantly barks and howls for hours at a time. She takes care of it well and walks it constantly but it just won't shut up when she leaves.

We're far enough away that it isn't a big deal but if I lived across from or beside her I'd shoot the damn thing. I'm quite shocked she hasn't had many noise complaints already because it does this whenever she's not home, often in the evening.

None of my business but it can't be healthy for the dog to be constantly howling and barking.

The animal has separation anxiety. If it concerns you (as in, for the dog's welfare), leave her a note on her door, tell her that her dog cries and howls terribly when she leaves.

If the others who live near her don't care they must all be out at the same time she is. Frankly, I'd put up with it for about an hour then I'd be calling the landlord, followed by animal control and the police. I have a low tolerance of noise, particularly since I work from home and sound can really interfere with my work.

my buddys been complaining about this for months and he looses sleep i told him when the dog barks no matter what time it is 3:30am whatever jus go knock on the door an tell em to shut there dog up (in a nice way) if its waking you up it should be waking them up too...so its funny you posted this thread cuz i crashed out there mon night and sure enough early morning it started, so i go next door and started knocking an knocking an knocking...they never came out n my friend got mad at me lol oh well quiet at my house haha

the only animals that a man should have in his house are the ones in his refrigerator and freezer. . .that he intends to eat.

cops won't[ do anything about animals... you either complain to her or live with it... learned that the hard way here.. dogs kept me up all night until I went to their house at 3am banging on their door.. scared the shit out of them and now they keep their dogs inside their garage and they don't bark
