A store clerk sold an under age kid some booze. The kid and a girl decided to get trashed that night. On the way to wherever the kid was driving, and lost control of the car, slammed the breaks , whatever, flipped the car over a couple times totally trashing it to scrap. The kid suffered some injuries but nothing major. The girl didnt fare to well, as she died. Now authorities are charging THE STORE CLERK with manslaughter and holding him responsible for this.

this is crazy but I understand the reasons why is brought to a court of law....

in some states the store clerk could still be charged fake id or not...IN Texas you can be charged even if they present a fake id

The drinking age of 21 is a terrible idea.

We tell our younger citizens: you are responsible enough to vote, responsible enough to drive, responsible enough to report to the miltary.....

but nevertheless, you are NOT YET READY (at 18 19 20) to handle that can that says "Budweiser".

Sure, you can vote for the President, or your representative, but PLEASE, whatever you do, keep away from the "Coors Light".

You want to join the Navy and man a gun on a battleship? No prob. You want to take one for the team and be a Purple Heart? Well that's just fine.

But you try and fuck with whatever is in that bottle that reads "Bacardi" and it;s jail for you.

Complete bullshit.

Matt I totally agree with you...I personally feel though, anyone who pays taxes in this country should have full legal rights including voting and drinking....

If we dont want to give that right to anyone under 18 then why should they have to pay taxes?

No taxation without representation????

TX,

For reasons beyod my control, the American public has accepted this "21" thing.

Basically, these women at MADD lobbied hard for it, and now cite the 21 drinking age as the primary reason for the decrease in DWI deaths.

I disagree. I believe that the major reason for the decrease is the spread of education about DWI and its dangers. Another major reason is the improvement of technology in cars.

As a personal example, my younger brother is 18 and he gets drunk like any other 18 year old. What he doesn't do is drive when he is. It is the awareness, not the age.

Go to any college campus and you will see how useless the drinking age is. Oh wait - you are TxCOLLEGE Guy so you already know.

The only thing this horrendous law does is ruin people's lives. It;s sad that someone dies in that acident....why compound youthful ignorance by ruining some poor clown working at a convenience store?
