Article On STEROIDS

By me. :rainbow:

And I have a favor to ask of the members.

This is something I wrote for the Huffington Post. Now for YOU guys, it's nothing new. It was directed to a mainstream audience. But I've written on a variety of topics for the paper (yes, I do have a life outside of EF), from politics to Enetrtainment, but this is something obviously close to my heart.

Feel free to post comments. I just ask a couple of things.

Remember, this isn't a crowd who have the slightest inkling about steroids. So I'm asking everyone to be a diplomat of sorts. The more articulate you are, the more likely you'll be heard.

Here's a chance to help educate the masses. (The Huffington Post has over two million readers).
So remarks like FUCKING TREN RULES! is not going to further the cause. : )

Also, be patient with the other posters. Some are a little ignorant and you can't blame them. They've been fed all the bullshit from the clueless talking heads on TV and radio. So be gentle! :D You can correct them, but in a respectful way please. (Actually, most of our members are very cool so I'm sure that's no prob).

Anyway, thanks in advance for all the help. You guys are the best.

Good article. I still give all the credit to the movie Bigger Stronger Faster. That was so spot on for the mainstream hype over steroids and what America Considers "Cheating"..

It was a very intelligent article though.

I think steroids get a bad rap based soley on the fact that they are usually illegal. With prohormones being as strong as they are today if you told someone you were taking something that is just like steroids but you bought it OTC its more acceptable. We definately live in the pharmaceutical age. Got a headache? Take this. Cant get your dick hard? Take this. Cum too fast? Take this. Depressed? Take this. Im just playing the hand I was delt, these drugs are there and people usethem. The media likes to twist things around with AAS is it really any different than woman getting massive amounts of plastic surgery or obese people getting gastric bypass? They are doing what they have to do to see results. A woman spends 20k to get her tits done, botox and lipsuction or an obese person gets their stomach stapled and loses 100lbs. They both prance around feeling great because they are happy with themselves, only difference with us is it is alot cheaper and we actually have to use willpower to eat and train right.

EXCELLENT FUCKIN POST NELSON. My 2 cents is just this. They claim that steroid use by these athletes cause young kids to get a bad impression. Well lets see? WHAT THE FUCK ARE WE DOING ABOUT THE RAP INDUSTRY DESTROYING THE YOUNG AFRICAN AMERICAN MALE BY CREATING A FALSE IMPRESSION ON REAL LIFE. LETS TAKE CARE OF THIS.

Excellent article Nelson. You are skilled in you craft and a subject matter expert on the hirstory and application of anabolic steroids.

Everything you or any of us have an opportunity to set the record straight, we should. You are doing all of us a great service in writing articles such as this one in the Huffington Post.

Thank you Nelson.

oh and good article Nelson, I agree 100% it would be nice if some of you bros made a comment at the lower part of the page in support/praise of nelson and also to verbally shit on the hater!

Seen Huffington Post and thought nothing good would come out of this. Article was fine, but not sure if typo or you meant to but, McQuire? McGwire.

We hate spelling freaks on the aas forum. At least i do because my spelling sucks. I mean who the fuck gives a shit? you knew exactly what he was saying.

These spelling fags think they are like reaching some great goal by pointing out a spelling error or some shit. Like omg I found a mistake a feel so damn great.

I for one would love to smash a spelling geek in the face.

But I love you and all members man. So do not take it the wrong way. Just spelling fags get on my nerves and shit. Peace.

I know what you mean. I used to be the worst speller in the world. Some dicks will make a big deal out of it. But I will say this; using the spell check really helps. After a while you get better, and then a good point comes off that much more articulately. It's just one of those facts of life. The world won't change, so sometimes you have to put that extra 2% effort to shut the assholes up.

And I do appreciate you leaving a comment bro. Every bit helps.

I may make a new rule on all training and aas forums. No one is to ever correct another mans spelling. If so you are banned. I mean its not like you do not know what he was trying to say anyway so waht is the damn fucking point. I am Ogure who wants to be the nerd???

"Ogre"
just kidding bor, you know someone had to. and i agree with the banning.
starting after this post of course lol

Nelson, phenominal and very intelligent article.

It makes me ill to read the comments. I literally get roid rage  when i read how these people, who i'm suprised can see us low lifes from WAY up on their moutain top, almost literally spit on you with their holier than thou opinions.
To say drugs that get you high are one thing, but performance enhancing drugs are a whole nother thing(worse).
Your a bigger man than me nelson. Its this kind of uneducated ignorance that would make me find where these pieces of walking excrement live and throw vials of aids blood through their windows. (or something like that)

LOL!! I have been a bassist for 20 years. I toured nationally last year before giving up the rock and roll lifestyle to get my ass back into BB'ing after a few years of absence.

Funny my man, me too! I took 5 years off AAS and BB'ing to tour nationally/internationally. I've been on hiatus for a while now and am considering not going back to life on the road. I may give it one more run depending on the $$$ situation... But I've been seriously considering leaving my music life behind. I never in a million years thought I'd be considering leaving the industry, but after a non stop 5 year run I am burnt out. I'll probably be happy for a year but will probably get the itch to get back out. It's such a catch 22.

My problem is I could never focus on BB'ing or music together. I am still doing one side project though now. I finally have my life in a place where i "could" tour without issues and I cant find a goddamn gig. Go figure:p . Always have the urge to perform though. Thats why I got back into wrestling along with BB'ing.

Who are you guys going out with? I had a kid when I was young so I avoided traveling, having to make my living as a musician in New York -- tough, but I did it until 10 years ago when work started drying up. It was right around that time I got into writing about my first love -- bodybuilding. And that became a career in itself.
