aren't their piranahs in the amazon?

There's more than piranahs in there. Snakes, electric eels, fresh water rays, otters, lampreys, and tons of other creatures.

how are they going to keep them away.

no, I didn't read the article.

piranahs are probably the least of the guys worries inhabiting the Amazon! I'd bet money he doesn't make it a week without being attacked and or killed by a reptile of some sort.

this is gonna be awesome, everyone is rooting for him to die lol. The filmmaker clearly has no conscience and lied to this dude about what it is in the amazon

what could be worse than piranahas?

piranahs are actually fairly unaggressive when it comes to prey larger than themselves, unless the prey is hurt and bleeding. There was actually an episode of Wild Boyz on MTV with Steve-o and Chris Pontious where they both were dunked into a tank with about 30 piranahs. The piranahs didn't even try and take a nibble.

Anacondas, Black Mambas (sp), and crocs would be a much greater threat.

I vote on death by crocs. I don't think anything else will bother him. People swim for miles in the ocean everyday, with sharks.

well, if he was swimming without support boats......the crocs FOR SHUUURRRR would get him. But since he's going to have motors churning the water on either side of him for the duration of his swim......he'll probably end up ok.......unless the peehole fuckers get him. He'll probably have various forms of skin rot too.

black mambas are native to africa , not south america , and even so bite to humans from black mambas are rare. :nerd:

Beat me to it on the mambas in africa thing.

I'd be more worried about picking up a flesh eating parasite or bacteria in the amazon than anything you can see coming.

Cheers,
Scotsman

Piranhas actually won't bother you unless you splash around a lot. I've seen people float down it w/o being bitten.

Racist! What about the white mambas? huh?

The micro-sized animals that live in that water would cause him a more painful death. Hopefully he knows not to swallow the water.

bro, cut me some slack. i ain't the friggin encyclopedia britanica. besides....what happened to Vegas?? :qt:

Nothing for him to worry about.

1- Humans are too large for most of the predators in the Amazon.
2- The creatures there don't see humans as food but are rather scared of us.
3- Any confused river creatures who MIGHT think he is food on any level will be put off by his wet suit.

they are going to use chum (buckets of animal blood) to keep most of the predators away from him. .I guess the boats will poor blood in the water at a distance from him hoping to lure any threats towards the boats and away from the swimmer.

still i would be shitting bricks...bull sharks, crocodiles(they are caimans), he probably wont have to worry about parasites and small snake bites, small fish and animal bites, as he will be wearing a protective suit i think.

There are also little fish that will swim up your urine stream. Even underwater. They end up getting caught in your penis, nice. I guess this guy realizes what's in the river but I won't swim there for 7 minutes.

Good luck buddy.

its called a Candiru...it crawls up your pecker hole and spreads it spiny fin to lodge itself there. :worried:

piranhas are pussies..i had a 125 gallon tank with 20 of them...i would put my hand in there and smack them and they would run to the other side...if your not bleeding..its rare they will atack you.

and yes i know about all the types..you got pygo's and serra's....pygo's are school fish that account for most of the attacks...serra's just nip the fins of other fish.

The myth has been exposed.

Crocs are not scared of humans. If he comes across a few hungry crocs, he's fucked. They are man eaters.

He's fortunate that there are no hippos in the amazon. Hippos kill more people in africa than any other animal.
