The whole running history of it along with the current events in Lebanon got me thinking, and wondering. Also, feel free to post up your opinion on why/how anti-Semitism started in the first place and why it still continues today.

Maybe we can all learn something.
 
i'm catolico, and i have a healthy respect for the way the jews handle the $$$.

i have lots of jew friends who grew up in private school with me. there was portnoy, and lebowitz. meyers and weitzman. good kids good kids.
 
I myself never had a problem personally with Jews, however I think there are a lot of questionable details throughout history in regards to events involving Jews. No, not just the Holocaust; although it would be a blip on the radar. For anti-Semitism to remain so prevalent in much of the world, there have to be legitimate reasons as to why. It's important to ask, what are they doing exactly to piss so many people off for so long? It's a complicated question that will result in complicated answers.

There is a long history and lots of reasons.

The most obvious is the religious premise that the jews were responisble for the death of Christ. That has only fueled the fires over the millenia.

Its also important to note that different customs and to a certain extent segregation (which wasn't one way) also played a role. When most people here think of jews today we are thinking of the more liberal sects in America, which are almost entirely a recent invention. The more traditional sects which were found in Europe looked and acted like those in the more traditional Hasidic communities in NY and elsewhere. They were Orthodox jews, who both by necessity and desire kept to themselves and dressed and acted far differently from their neighbors. That always tends to breed distrust.

Another component, and the basis for a lot of the more ugly stereotypes about jews, developed as a result of other factors. Among them for a long time it was considered a sin to lend money at interest. As a result Catholics were barred from that the lending industry. In turn the jews, not similarly encumbered, began to form and dominate the lending and banking industry. No one ever likes bankers. But even more so when the punishments for not paying were far more severe than they are today, unless one is dealing with loan sharks.

To answer you k question it began I believe about the 12th or 13th century, and led to almost every money lender being jewish as they were exempt for Church usury laws

The context changes over time. The title of "Jew" encompasses more today than simply religious background, especially given the increasing number of the unorthodox variety. Somehow though, anti-"Semite" has stuck, even though the term originated from that of people who speak Hebrew.

I believe Anti Semitic is a misnomer. I'll have to double check, but I believe a number of Cultures/Nations in the region have a Semitic History. The Israeli term is a new concept regarding the country, formed in the 1940's. Judaism is a religion with strong familial ties, so Jews tend to have many similar distinguishing characteristics.
 
Jews run the media, the banks, and everything that is a "broker" type of business. So basicaly Jews run the modern word. They truly have taken over the planet.....In my eyes they must be gods chosen people. The media determines what people think and believe....who their heros are....who to vote for president....TNN was the only non jewish ran media station in the US and was brought to its knees by the others. I am not jewish...But I truly believe if you fight the jews you lose.

Jews do not consider themselves a religion. They consider themselves a race, and will protect each other at the cost of everyone else. Then they play the "race card" when dealing with everyone else and deny the fact that they are the most racist elitist people who have ever existed.

Christianity (Judaeo Christianity) was created with the premise that the jews were god's chosen people. So the rest of us must bow to them. (Wonder who put that part in there?!) Today, jews must be treated "with kid gloves" and protected at every turn. While I certainly am not the one to praise them, they sure know how to "put one over" on the rest of us! In fact, until I did my own research they were like eskimos to me---I'd heard of them, but didn't really know any. Damn, what a kick in the nuts...
 
What is a Semite? Are there Semitic people that aren't Jewish? The only time I hear the term Semitic it is preceded by "anti".

The only thing that's ever annoyed me about Jews is when they refer to themselves as the Jewish "race". Someone is a Jew by practicing Judaism. One's race is defined by genetics. You can choose what religion to practice but you cannot choose your ethnicity.

It all started with them damned slaves following Moses into the desert. J/K. I am sure the resentment goes back further than that. The term Semite is derived from 'Son of Shem' which is supposed to be the father of Hebrews and several other groups.

There are only about 2000 years separating Moses' death and Mohammed's birth, so it's not like they had a beef with each other.

Isreal, which Isreali comes from is named after the Biblical patriarch Isreal, the name given to Jacob by God.

The land of Isreal, as settled by the 12 tribes of Hebrews actually fits fairly well into modern Isreal. There is a section of western Jordan, all of Gaza, All of the West Bank, and an eastern portion of Egypt, so the land they settled 3500 years ago is the land they were 'given' in the 40's.

Saw it when I acutally looked up the origin of the word Semetic. I might not have known everything in my original post before I wrote it, but I took the time to back up my opinions with information. I just didn't cite my sources.

Too many people are too lazy and will take that which is spoken on the news as the word of God. ALL MEDIA, hell, EVERYONE has an agenda. Never believe everything you are told unless you independantly verify it.

Its to do with the fack that ancient orthodox Jewish people interbred alot with their relatives (cousins etc) in order to preserve family blood-bonds and wealth.
That is why many orthodox Jews need to wear glasses etc.

By the way, I do not foster any negative feelings towards a collective group of people, only against individuals, which transcends any racial/ethnical/religious categories. Individuals of any race or ethnical group can be a good or bad addition to this world, and I dispise fools of any background who are selfish enough to kill people in order to favour their own agenda.
Most Muslims are not fundamentalists, thus, not terroristical in their approach to other faiths.
The above is only an example of what I believe.
Unfortunately, a few rotten apples spoil the whole basket.

We have a sect around here, called Mennonite, similar to Amish. They are the same as Jews, in that they are strictly speaking a religion. There has been enough "selective breeding" over the years, that you can tell right away in most cases, who & what they are, no matter what they wear.
The English language has become bastardized so often, in so many places, that it's amazing the English race can even converse with each other.

Huh? So you're saying that someone can be a Jew without ever practicing Judaism? That just doesn't make any sense at all. What are the physical traits that Jews inherit? Tell me how those physical traits are different from people of other religions that originate from the same geographical area.

I've heard of them too, some of them near where I lived back home. From what I hear they are excellent builders (houses, barns, etc.).
 
I wouldnt say I was anti-Semantec. I'm guess I'm kind of neutral. Our IT guy at work regularly craps on their products, but they work well enough for me and the price is affordable.

Your IT guy is smart. They make a bunch of crap. The only thing I use of theirs is Ghost. I'd be a hypocrite to recommend else though, as I don't believe in anti-virus for myself. I scan my computer periodically and have never found a virus. Occasional spyware, but nothing damaging. Worst thing I ever did to myself was play a Sony Music (BMG) cd on my computer. Screwed up my CD rom with their damn malware, not that an anti-virus would have picked that up either.

many american jews are Ashkenazim (basically - german jews) and they do tend to be ugly motherfuckers. semetic blood doesn't seem to mix well with northern european blood.




jews are hated bascially because they're viewed as interlopers and nomads.
the simple fact is that they pretty much get the boot from any country they set camp up in. jewish people value education above all else, and the simple fact of the matter is that educated people make more money than uneducated people. this creates a lot of jealousy and indignation towards the jew.

jewish people are generally viewed by christians as lacking ethics as well. whether that's perception or reality is debatable.

This is a great post. Ironically, I get the feeling you are FOR the jews!!!! I would like everyone to LISTEN CAREFULLY at all the news broadcasts. For every situation like this, Israel makes our politicians use a buzz phrase to get their message out. They literally call the president on the phone, and instruct him what to say. Last time it was "Israel has the right to be a Jewish state". Everyone was saying it from Colin Powell to GW. THIS time, it is "Israel has the right to defend itself". You have to admire, on various levels, a group that can do what they have done.

My post was extremely condensed. I also suspect that many of them look upon the rest of humanity much like we look upon our household pets. Train them and be entertained. Get rid of them if they are not worthwhile. Not to be given the same status as the head of household. We can perform guard duty. Act in their movies. Be their patients. Their carpenters. Their soldiers.

If we have it too good, it may be time to 'redistribute' things.

I go back and forth. What would a world of nothing but Jews be like? I think it might be better than this one. Certainly far more advanced.

ever notice that almost everything in the news is pro israel? it's like whatever they do, usa automatically agrees with it and there doesn't seem to be much negative things said about israel. it's like they are the goldenchild on the news.

i saw an interview a few weeks ago right when he had the allegations against him. his last words in the interview were "all i have to do is support the US, support Israel..." and some other patriotic stuff. i was so blown away at him saying that. i never hear anyone say " and support Argentina" or "and support Iceland". But he sure as hell is in AIPAC's pocket.
 
Seeing as I have several good friends who are jews I'd have to say that I am definitely not. I try not to judge anyone by their race, creed, or religion. Although a few of my Jewish friends are so stereotypically Jewish that I give them shit about it all the time. Which of course leads to their making fun of me being Scottish.

Boss, you are overlooking something. We clearly aren't speaking about strong minded intellligent articulate people, we are talking about brainwashed narrow simple minded people. There is a huge difference. Many kids grow up to be EXACTLY like their parents in terms of what their political ideologies or beliefs are. Whether it be racism, religion, politics, it's all the same. It's ingrained in some people at a young age and many never break out of it. Obviously this doesn't apply to people who are free thinking and intelligent enough to let reality intervene with their thought processes.

The reason behind this is very simple. The USA controls the media. The Jewish folks control the money in the USA and some even control the media itself.
Thus, it is logical that global media (most originating from the USA) will benefit the Jewish population.
 
my high school was about 25% Jewish,if not more
I've never had a problem with them and babysat for a few Jewish families
this one internist had 3 boys,they had all kind of toys
but they had the best fun with me as I'd split us up in two teams and build forts out of all their shit,then turn out the lights and bombard each other
