are there any Chiropractors out here tonight?

for anyone serious about competing, what good is being huge and ripped when you walk around with one shoulder higher than the other and pain in you're back?

I have been to several different chirpractors before, and my back would never "hold". SO I was being adjusted frequently and it made it actually hurt more. I have had some relief through massage, but as soon as I move around it will cramp up again. I was running 3X's a week (as well as other cardio) and lifting 6 getting ready for a show; now I am doing great just to walk. This blows! If I find out what the pop/klunk thing is I will repost for all my fellow klunk and poppers! thanks guys

Kitty- Have you found anything out yet? My back doesn't "hold" from chiropratic manipulations either.

i am not sure what is causing the pain you are experiencing, but i would be willing to bet that you are doing something wrong. wether it is lifting weight wrong, using your back instead of your legs, or just sleeping on a crappy bed. as far as chiropractic, it works as long as you help it work. you can't just go see a chiro and expect your adjustment to hold, it is up to you to make sure you don't recreate the situation that got you there in the first place. ask your doc for back stretches specifically designed for your condition, and take it easy. don't go to the chiro, then hit the gym doing deadlifts or squats and expect your adjustment to hold. as for MD's, all they will ever say is anti-inflammatories, ice, and motrin.

My back always takes awhile to hold adjustments too. You need to also strengthen the intrinisic stabilizer muscles around the sacoriliac joint as well.

When experiencing hip and lower back problems along with a hamstring strain brought on by several ankle sprains (got all that?) I had a physical therapist stretching out my hip - she also gave me specialized stretching exercises which have released the tightness in the wonky hip somewhat as well as keeping the lower back in better shape. The stretching routine seems to make my chiropractic adjustments "hold" better.

Speaking of which, I haven't been to the chiropractor in a long time, and my back is really screwed up right now. Two or three adjustments and I am usually back on track though. I can't say enough about chiro. It can be like magic if you do as much as you can in other areas as well like stretching + sleep and work habits.

Would you believe before I went to a chiropractor I used to sleep face down with my head to the side. Apparently that is bad for the neck, LOL.
