just a question for those that do train, how many times a week do you actually train with an instructor? how many hours each time?

well on an average week, I get...

3 hours with a boxing coach and then some sparing time with his boxers...

4 hours a week with a Gracie Academy BJJ (2 classes a week)...Some is instructional, some is open mat time, and some of the time is working with the higher level students...

8 hours a week with my main instructor and our group of fighters, most of this time is Muay Thai kickboxing, BJJ, or Vale Tudo

You can throw your hardest punch at Mike Tyson and he won't move but throw an Elbow or knee strike at his head and he'll be out.

You wouldnt get the chance, I'd almost guarantee it. You'd be knocked out or dead.

I guarantee i'll never get close to him but put Tyson in the ring with Jerome LeBanner, Stefan Leko or Michael McDonald and i guarantee they would crush his front leg with their devastating Thai Kicks. Boxers bend a lot to aviod punches, thats an open invitation to a Thai boxer to throw kness at his head. You think Tyson got a beating from Lewis. Put him in the ring with one of these guys and he'll be lucky, if he lasts one round

LOL Thaibox

For real though, f420, Tyson wouldnt have boxing gloves on. His already very very dangerous punches would be twice as bad. He's compact and quick, even at his age. And in that ring, he wouldnt be bound by boxing's rules.

Whats up Beffy,
Tell me Man, You ever been in a fight with a ring experienced Thai Boxer or been on the receiving end of a hard Thai Kick. If the answer is No. i recommed you go to your local Muay Thai Gym and train with those fellas. You'll develop a lot of respect for their art. I used to box and was getting ready to compete in my First Golden Gloves Championship. Until i jumped in the ring with a Thai boxer and realized that his push kicks were so effective, i had no chance of coming. Their punches might not be that good. but their elbows and knees and kicks more than make up for it.

Muay Thai kickboxing is definetley tops, pancration is also deadly if you get a guy to the ground quickly, the fights over before it even starts. I train five times a week for an hour each time with my instructor who is the 2002 pro world Muay Thai champion.
