what you guys take for soreness?
man I 'm completely fhuking thrashed the day after my squat training, lot of soreness, tightness and just mentally tired as hell, I could lay on the couch all day, sleep and not move....is this normal? does anyone take anything for this (ibuprofen?)

Yes it is normal.

When I am unusually sore I take one alieve and one advil. For some reason taking the two always works better than one or the other. Take a very hot bath/shower, apply Icy Hot to sore areas and take a nap. Always works.

Try active recovery- do some light cardio and/or exercise for the sore area. Sissy or hindu squats, walking lunges, bike riding....
Inactivity only makes the problem worse due to the build-up of lactins in the affected area ( someone I'm sure could explain the actual physiology better than I).
Ever since I became a bike commuter I've had more energy, both in the gym and at work.

remeber to consume LOTS of water, and get up and do something... laying around will only make it worse...

you've got to work that acid out of those muscles...

Great info here!

Bare in mind that you probably are overdoing things if you are THAT sore on a regular basis...

I use Tiger Balm. If I get to the gym and the warm-up sets don't quite do the job then I just massage in some Tiger Balm and get on with it.

For simple next-day doms, from working muscles too infrequently, it's better to move around than lay around. Some light cardio or brisk walking can ease the pain away. The best remedy is to work your muscle groups more frequently.

I feel the most sore on Monday mornings and afternoons. I train events on Sunday and my entire body is sore and tired on Monday. For instance, yesterday I did:
Deadlifts from the rack (low setting)
Log Clean and Strict Overhead Press
Conan's Wheel
2" Axle Clean and Jerk
Atlas Stones
Static Squats
Crucifix Hold
Grip Work
Abs

I came straight home (Drinking a regular soda on the way for sugar) and ate a bunch of pork souvla, 3 potatoes, salad, and 1 liter of whole fresh milk. 1 hour later I had nearly the same thing again except with LOTS of white rice instead of potatoes and a nice piece of beef. I also take several vitamins post workout:
2G Vitamin C
Zinc
Multi Vitamin-Mineral
Echanacia (sp?)
Milk Thistle
Vitamin E
And quite often a glass of Green Tea

Before I go to bed I will do a little light stretching in all muscles worked that day, plus hamstrings.

I begin Monday mornings with breakfast and then a short walk with my dog.

Deca cures all my soreness!

Actually when not on AS I love the soreness feeling. When I was in college and between football practice and the gym I was sore 24x7 and started taking Triptophan the amino acid. Got rid of all my soreness, but damn I had to go to be by 8:30 because I was so damn tired.

Everything's basically been said already. I don't like taking anything, I just live with the soreness. BUT, aspirin, Aleve, etc. and lot's of water. Light cardio with some stretching. I play bball and/or raquetball, as well. I'm slow to start but get going OK once I've warmed up.

When you get done with a hard workout jump on the bike for 10 min. and ride nice and easy this will help get rid of some of the lactic acid which in turn will help cut down on some of the soreness. It also lets your muscles cool down properly.
