I don't eat bread very often, I stick to unprocessed carbs like brown rice, oatmeal, couscous. If you're looking for tasty protein, canned tuna in water is great, turkey or chicken breasts, (you can try marinading them in garlic and orange juice and grilling em, yum) pork, lean beef. Eggs are excellent - the whites are the only known source of animal protein with NO fat.
I don't think you're getting a substantial amount of protein from a couple of slices of deli meat, IMO to get the same amount of protein as you would from something like grilled chicken you made yourself you'd have to eat quite a bit of it, and all the extra calories and additives and preservatives that go along with em. Not everyone is concerned about this stuff, just MO.
