Anyone know anything about hernias?

I did abs on Friday pretty hard and one of my abs above my bellybutton to the right hurts really bad. It hasn't stopped hurting since and if I do anything to put tention on the area it hurts pretty good. Could it be a hernia? Or is it just most likely a stressed muscle? I would like to avoid the doctor if I could and was just wondering how long I should lay off the weights. I have chest day tomorrow and am wondering if I should do it or not. Is there a way to work around it?

Hernia’s or ruptures are actually very close to your nuts, I have had two and surgery once.

The scare starts right at my dick and goes up and out about 5 inches.

are your testicles getting alot larger? filling with something??

best bet.. go to the doc...

good luck..

had a double hernia when i was 4yrs old...

No..tyhis is all above my belly button. No discoloration or anything at all. Hopefully its just a strain then.

Actually there are different kinds of hernia - epigastric are just above the belly button in the upper/middle ab area while inguinal occur in the groin area.

If the pain remains for more than two weeks, it worsens or if you note any bulging or change in shape of your abdominal wall you should go see your doctor.

I thought I had a strain several times over the course 2/3 years and it wasn't - it was hernia and it was an ER doc that lit a fire under my ass to go see a surgeon - having it fixed was one of the best things I have ever done for myself. Now when I look down at my belly button is smiles back at me. :FRlol: (a little scar humor)

The worst thing that could happen is that the doc tells you it's just a muscle strain.

:)

I just had my embilical hernia fixed 3 weeks ago along with my gyno surgery.

Yes, there are also, hiatal hernias, inguinal, and epigastric hernias as well as velvett stated.

Ab strains are pretty common when using heavy weights. About once every 3 months I think I get a hernia but it goes away. Thats how you know its not a hernia - it goes away. Hernia's can only get worse as they tear more, they never get better or go away.

Thanks I will keep that in mind. I just got through my chest workout today and didnt have to much of a problem. ZI'm pretty sure it's just a strain now but I was kind of paranoid that it could be a hernia. I have never experienced an ab strain before.

Thats cool, its probably a strain. If you get some Alien like protrusion popping out of your abdominal area - its definitely a hernia then!
