Anyone here used beta-blockers?

Yes 40butpumpin i have taken metoprolol in the past. I also have prescribed Beta blockers and every other class of antihypertensive medications to and cared for many thousands of patients on them. I agree with what ichabod says that thiazides are also excellent first line BP meds and may be better for you as it will help you keep excess fluid to a minimum. IMHO a combo med is not necessary until single agents have failed. Ichabod you obviously know what you are talking about. I am guessing you have some medical training?

Anyhow, that is just my opinion.

Bro I take 50mg daily of Coreg, three years ago I had a viral infection in my heart that nearly killed me. It left my heart in a pretty weak state. Coreg not only controls blood pressure but it also makes the heart stronger. The first few months on it I felt a little tired but then my heart function was pretty low, injection fraction of only 15%. Today I am going through very strenous workouts without a problem, in fact I'm doing an NPC show in three weeks. I am lucky enough to have found a very good cardiologist who I can level with and continue to do all the things that I enjoy. Do yourself a favor and visit the coreg website.:)

Toprol works well for lowering heart rate during cycles. However, i dont think that it has a great impact on bp.I use 25-50mg during cycles.Toprol is cardioselective, so little affect on lungs.Slight sexual side affects.Try clonidine for high bp......
