Cool! Where do you kayak at? IF I may ask?

Wherever I can! I really enjoy the southern Gulf Islands off of Vancouver Island and the West Coast around Tofino is incredible. I almost drown myself in a riptide off Long Beach a couple of years ago - the other guy got to tow me back in after the boat and I went different directions!

The big lakes in northern BC are also a rush in a good wind. Sea kayaks are incredibly stable and can handle quite a heavy sea. 15 foot breakers though - eh, not my thing. I've thought about river kayaking - may pick it up eventually.

Fantastic. Well, other than the riptide incident in LB.:) I'd imagine you'd handle the RT the same way you'd do if caught while swimming???

I plan on doing a lil stint off the Cape ( Cape Cod, Mass.) this summer with a kayak. Wish me well- I sail those waters and NEVER tried 'em by kayak. I'm hoping for a whale experience in the kayak. Stellwegen is the meca for whales! I may crap my pants being that close to those beautiful creatures in the kayak though. lol

I can not imagine the beauty yu've seen during yur adventures! Lucky YOU!

definately take a course if you plan to whitewater kayak, you need a bomb proof roll and I also advise taking swift water rescue ,trust me you will need it, too many people get themselves in over their heads and you will use it in your first season on the river

you ever had a creek boat or anything? I'm looking to pick up a creek/play boat in the $200 range used... just something to tool around in until i get good. There are rapids 5 minutes from my apt in downtown.

No I'm sorry I haven't.
