Anyone here Kayak?

I whitewater kayak,Im paddling a liquidlogic pop, have a sherlock helmet,I forget who makes it but its sweet, a shred paddle and a level six vest

I plan on it soon. A place nearby rents them so I am going to rent before I decide to buy one.

I've used rented gear to kayak when in Buzzards Bay on the Cape. We plan another trip off P-Town to see how close we can get to Stellwagen. Ten bucks says my old man won't make it a mile offshore. lol

I could see myself getting into it more if I did not sail.

good choice, every model handles differently and some roll easier then others, some are tippy and have hard edges, id avoid Riot,I paddled a trickster as my first boat and damn it was a steep learnin curve, alot of swimming through some nasty water and a few injuries from rocks

I bet I can do better than ya'll with just an old innertube.

i love yaking
don't own my own though, i always use others
never gone white water, i'm more of a chill river/beer drinker kayaker

We need to hang out sometime. We both seem like good bros enjoying the same type of lifestyle.

Crap I need to delete this before AAP chimes in wanting to go tubing with us.

Sounds all faggotity to me.

My familys got a small flotilla of them, I don't personally own one though. They are alot of fun, and great exercise.
Are you going in rivers or lakes?

If me and bino ever went camping there would be a lot of naked wrestling going on.

Not me and him though, because that would be gay.

It'd be the two male strippers we picked up at the bar the night before and brought along.

If you want to kayak Jmo I will go with you this spring. There is a course set up on south platte upstream from the REI downtown here in Denver.

Been looking for someone to start with.

lol

let me know what you two think of kayaking so I will know what to expect when I attempt it this Spring.

kayaking takes about 1/2 hour to figure out
real easy
unless you're doing some extreme river shit...

WTF? you learned to roll and shit in 30 mins?

WTF
peeps don't roll in kayaks in shallow michigan rivers
i've never seen it done and i've yaked for 15 yrs.
the general mechanics of yaking are easy to pick up

if you're going to senselessly bump my thread, at least wait until it's off the first page.

love,

me.

Anything involving you is senseless.

Just be happy a woman is paying attention to you and not stalking you.

Kayak fishing is really popular around here. I watched the Marine Patrol ticket two yakers this past weekend in the ICW. They were just yakin about while boats flew past at 25+ knots. The stupid fucks didn't have on life vests. The MPO looked pissed.

Cool! Where do you kayak at? IF I may ask?

Wherever I can! I really enjoy the southern Gulf Islands off of Vancouver Island and the West Coast around Tofino is incredible. I almost drown myself in a riptide off Long Beach a couple of years ago - the other guy got to tow me back in after the boat and I went different directions!

The big lakes in northern BC are also a rush in a good wind. Sea kayaks are incredibly stable and can handle quite a heavy sea. 15 foot breakers though - eh, not my thing. I've thought about river kayaking - may pick it up eventually.

Fantastic. Well, other than the riptide incident in LB.:) I'd imagine you'd handle the RT the same way you'd do if caught while swimming???

I plan on doing a lil stint off the Cape ( Cape Cod, Mass.) this summer with a kayak. Wish me well- I sail those waters and NEVER tried 'em by kayak. I'm hoping for a whale experience in the kayak. Stellwegen is the meca for whales! I may crap my pants being that close to those beautiful creatures in the kayak though. lol

I can not imagine the beauty yu've seen during yur adventures! Lucky YOU!

definately take a course if you plan to whitewater kayak, you need a bomb proof roll and I also advise taking swift water rescue ,trust me you will need it, too many people get themselves in over their heads and you will use it in your first season on the river

you ever had a creek boat or anything? I'm looking to pick up a creek/play boat in the $200 range used... just something to tool around in until i get good. There are rapids 5 minutes from my apt in downtown.

No I'm sorry I haven't.
