Anyone else do this with bills or change when paying for something?

calveless wonder

I don't know why i do this or have always done this, but today a cashier said something about it and i looked at him like he was stupid (even though most clerks are often to stupid to figure out what im doing. they just never say anything)

whenever i pay for something cash, assuming i don't have exact change, i'll try to get an even amount or bigger bill. change consolidation i suppose

i.e. something is 13.05, but i don't have a ten and 3 singles. i'll give 23.05 so i get rid of 1's and get a 10 back. instead of just giving 20.05

i hate cluttered bills or change.

i'll do the same thing if i have a bunch of pennies and something is say xx.78. I'll give 3 pennies and whatever dollar amount so i get a quarter back and get rid of the pennies.

i know i'm not the only one who does this.

I do that all the time and sometimes cashiers look at me confused. Just do your job and give me the change I want, lady.

I'm with you, I always do this and you're right, more times than not I get the, "What change am I supposed to give back now" look from the cashier.

I always do that as well.

I worked in a convenience store for many years in college so I make change in my head very quickly. No one ever short changes me.

Of course, who wants a load of change in their wallet?
It is so sad that most cashiers can't do basic arithmetic in their head to make change. I help them if they are struggling.

I do this too. One thing I fucking hate is if I get a half dollar back with change. I always hand it back and ask for 2 quarters and the dickhead looks at me like I'm an asshole.

i do that all the time.

i try to keep a few singles handy for small items, but other than that i don't want those shits in my billfold.

yep all the time and always get the look from the clerk.

I do it as well, they have to use the register to figure out the change anyway..

public education.. got to love it..

..which is why they're cashiers in the first place :)

btw: most cashier systems made in the past two decades give u the change once u put in how much u got.

ya ya but if you ask after they have punched it in, they are lost.

I think most people add the change to whatever bills they have. It is the fact that you add more to get an even bill makes you a bit OCD

I do like precision and order...
and I do dislike shaking people's hands because most people are festering with pooh germs ....
and I do frequently wash my hands to get the creepy crawlies off...
and I do feel unpleasantly out of control if the house is untidy...

oh s**t

I do that shit.

Why should clerks have a problem with that? They don't even have to count change anymore since the machine calculates it for them.

I'll also do almost anything to avoid getting lots of coins back.
