anybody read the latest time magazine that basically says fat burners are crap?

I have a little weight to lose that I gained back a couple months ago and just saw a doctor about some skin stuff and got the ok to diet.

So I looked into stuff and bought a bottle of xenadrine thinking thats the best supplement out their and would also be exercising 6 days/week with a good diet.

anyways the article is only a page but basically it says they dont work and they could be bad news especially with some ingredients that the fda has recorded allot of incidents with some of these ingredients and the side effects can be huge.

the guy is a doctor the wrote the thing.

So im just wondering is this open to debate or do the supplement companies have real studies and for those that did use it how are you sure it just isn't a placebo?

I bought a bottle and just decided not to screw with the stuff cause I don't want to hurt myself. I'll make a sound diet and get down til I can't lose and re evaluate things or pay to see a sports nutritionist for an evaluation to see if I have lost all the weight at that point cause im obsessed with losing all my fat and getting definition....
 
I heard many bad things about Ephedrine... actually more bad than good. But it is an effective fat burner according to studies and numerous accounts even by people here on these boards. I did hear one thing about Ephedrine being very catabolic after the first hour or two.
 
Heres a suggestion....Use xenadrine at no more than the reccommend dose everyday for 8 weeks. If you feel its dangerous and does not work, then never use it again, and forever after that believe everything and only what the media says. After your trial, if you feel that the media's opinion on ephedrine is inaccurate, then you may want to re-evaluate your affection toward media information.

If you want to use the Ephedrine/Caffiene stack via the safest route..then buying pure ephedrine and caffeine instead of a formulated supplement like xenadrine is the way to go. Using xenadrine should not be a problem though, as long as you are aware of the information given on the label and follow it. Even when using pure EC, its also good idea to follow the instructions.

Well said Chillin.

People who are worried about taking an ECA should be the safest with Xenadrine. The bottle reccomends 2 capsules twice daily max, which gives you 400mg caffiene, and only 40mg Ephedrine.
 
i think that people who say they are crap have no clue what they are talking about. i know as well as everyone else that has used them and gotten results are proof that they work.
 
I missed that article, but I did manage to catch the article Fat Burner Magazine did on how Time magazine was crap.

Seriously though, majority of "doctors" dont know shit about sports supplements. Chances are they have never tried a single one, which is why you come to a board like this, to discuss with those who have actually experienced the benefits.
 
I hate the Time Magazine.. the worst crap magazine.. I just cant take Time seriously. I think they just lies a lot..
I just say, dont read Time, dont trust 'em.. full of bs

but, I have used Xenadrine, and I think it kicks ass! ephedrine can have sersious side effects if abused.. just as many other medicines, drugs, vitamins etc
I have taken 100mg whithout problems, but as HumanShell said.. the recommend dose in Xen only got 40mg.. so it's very safe to use, just read the info at the bottles before using it..
and several tests have shown that ephedrine do work, it have been in the US Obesity Journal thingy many times.
 
I hate all the media! There all deceitful bastards...They wouldn't have anything to talk about if it weren't for all these stupid gov't regulations and socialist programs.
