What do you think a 315 squat raw with only knee wraps translates to for a lifter who then lifts in full gear--straps up etc. in a meet.

Reason I am asking is that my pr is 365 and I am trying to gauge myself and I haven't tried a max squat in a while. Lifting in meet this saturday. Open at 325 then going to 375 and if successful trying 400. Sorry for the highly speculative inquiry but I thought I would give it a try.

what kind of suit?? if you have not been training in the suit, its not a good idea to try it at the meet. but just to give you a general idea, i get about 150 out of a single poly suit. there are way too many factors to say how much you will get from a suit, but if you have been training raw, i would llift in the meet the same way.

good answer..
you really should have been practicing in the suit leading up to the meet.is your 365 PR raw or suited?
your opener is going to be way too low but unfortunately you wont know what to expect if youre throwing a suit on for the first time

Agreed, you have to train in the suit and TAKE WEIGHTS in the suit to get the most benefit, especially if the suit has a lot of bite.

I think I would freak out if I had put on a suit in a meet that I had never trained in (well - maybe not literally 'freak out'), but it would feel so foreign. Not to scare you out of wearing it in the meet, but it might cause you more harm than good??? Maybe just get through this meet raw and then start practicing with the suit?

Best of luck to you this weekend all the same.

All these guys at the gym never put on their gear except for just before the meet, open really low and end up with less than stellar performances.

Try the crap on, figure out if it even works for you, and don't be afraid of becoming dependant on the equipment. Beleive me, if the gear is any good, you won't wear it unless you have to.

How else do you expect to get a 100 or 150 pounds out of the stuff if you don't tune it in?

BTW, the guys at the gym also buy whatever is the "newest" and the "greatest" in equipment only to not know what the hell they are doing, I guess the fact they still do the "pseudo powerlifting / bodybuilding" workouts has something to do with their sub-par lifts. They are strong guys but get with the program people.

Thanks a lot everybody, I guess I should have been more specific. I have used a champion suit and actually got the 365 in that suit. Now, after some checking around and training in it a bit I decided to use a Inzer Max DL suit for both squatting and pulling and it feels a lot better at the bottom of the squats. I used the DL suit about a month ago and got a 350 with it but didn't go higher. I haven't trained in the suit since then just squatting raw and did this 315 raw and thought "I wonder what that translates to" ? I appreciate the info it helps. I will try the 400 on a third.

The suit is a bitch to get on even with suit slippers, It must be good because I get the feeling I could squat down and leap up and slam dunk a basketball from a standstill--not really but the suit IS uncomfortable that is why I don't put it on all the time on leg days. I did hit a 350 in it in a meet.
