b fold the truth

Elite Strongman
Platinum
Well, back at it. I guess that I woke up this morning with a headache and KNEW that it was going to be a rough workout today. I could tell that I hadn't done any real events or Good Mornings in a while!!!! Had a headache all stinking day too...and it got worse every time I pushed myself while training...

Bottom Position GM's
several warm ups
275 x 5
297 x 5

Standing Calf Raises (New Machine!!!!)
135 x 10 x 2 sets

Seated Calf Raises (My new machine is still working!!!!)
45 x 20
90 x 20

Super Yoke and Tire Flip (head was pounding)
350 yoke for 50 ft, 1000 pound tire for 0 flips (bad technique)
Heavy tire by 1 flip
Heavy tire by 2 flips
350 super yoke for 50 ft

Conan's Walk
135 x 150ft x 2 sets

Thick Bar Clean And Press
135 x 5
185 x 3 x 3 sets (60 sec rest between sets)

Thick Bar Deadlifts
315 x 3 x 3 sets (60 sec rest between sets)

Carry and Drag Medley
155 H-Stone, 180 Keg, 185 Atlas Stone...carry all for 50 feet and put on top of a barrel and then drag a 180 sled back for 50 feet.

That was basically it for today...it seemed to make my headache worse by training. Feel dehydrated too...maybe one is leading to the other...chug the water.

I am trying to start lightly right now and get the feel of the contest. No reason to have any injuries right now. Time to turn up the volume in the gym though!!!! A lot!!!!

hey bro,
nice work. i am just itching to try to some clean and presses with that thick bar, my small hands may not even hold the thing, but i might manage.
just figured out i can post again.
talk to you soon,
brian

Aussie Juga naught: When you get hungry...umm...lol.

louden_swain: Thanks. Other than the humidity, it really is pretty here.

goldenone: It was ok. I need to find a better way to set up my seated. I may place another support board in the middle and then put another 2x4 on my knees, put a I bolt through it and hand weights between my knees. That way it would place more stress directly on my calves....maybe. When my training partners come back to town I will be able to do donkey calf raises on them.

brian747478': Come on down and try it. It is fun. Has ZERO bend to the bar though which makes it hard to get any spring. It doesn't rotate either which makes the clean nice and fun...lol.

b- about the seated calf raise you have 3 options
1) use a dip belt and wrap it around your legs so the weight hangs between
2) Use a straight bar, put a type of pad on your lower thighs, and place the loaded bar on that and do it that way...
3) Load up a heavy dumbell and place it on your thighs, or between your thighs(i.e. one plate is on top of your thights, one is below.

I am exploring all options...although doing seated calves isn't the top priority in my training at the moment. I think that the standing is more effective, especially for my training.

definately.. standing would be more effective.
Seated is just good for widening the gastrocnemius (sp??), giving you wider calves...so you can impress people, and distact your competitors in most events with your large calves.... now which one is more important??

Dude, you are hardcore. lol
Wish I had a thick bar--bad genetics, but I digress.
What part of Kentucky do you live in?
I live in Martin, TN.

gettinlarger: hahaah...I have a place I put my 45's, 35, etc...but I have like 10 25 pound plates. My weight tree only holds 4...so I keep some of them laying around for quick use. My gym is organized chaos...haha. I need to clean it up a bit...

dick tater: Thanks...come up and try mine. I think that I am about 30-45 minutes north of Martin...shoot me a PM sometime...

Haha b fold I looked at your site + saw the sprinting video :)

haha..I think I deleted that video, along with the others tonight...lol.

I am fairly quick for my size...we were doing 100' sprints. We would jog/run down and then try and sprint back. I guess that my size gets in my way a lot.... Not many runners that weigh 285 with 30" quads.

Got measured for a tux the other day and they got me a 58 Long...ouch..
