Am I right or am I wrong?

Frisky

~QUEEN BITCH~

Ok, so tis family day yesterday with me and my wee ones and their choice of food and play... They decide on MrGatties so off we go. Get there and the place is packed! Get to the register to order and paying the gal there.... Now, my son fractured his wrist recently and has a splint on his arm that has a metal rod at the bottom of it... he is standing right there by me and puts his hand down on the stainless steel bar right in front of him and there a clank sound. The gal turns to my child and proceeds to go off on him and tell him to keep it the hell down!

Ok, mom mode kinda sets in, I pay the gal... get my plates and cups and then proceed to turn to her and tell her in exact words... " Excuse me miss... I don't appreciate you raising your voice to my child, for one... I am standing here and he didn't do a damn thing wrong, for two... I can correct my own children if and when they do something wrong, for three... do you see that he has a damn cast on his arm and he did not mean to make such a loud noise?

My son was very embarrassed by the way she spoke to him and he actually didn't even know what he did wrong besides stand to the side and rest his arm. He was however very respectful to her even though she screamed at him and told her he was sorry.

Both of my children are very respectful, I'd have it no other way and I know that he never meant to do that at all.

So I tell her what i have to say... she is completely in awe because I guess she didn't think I'd say a word to her beings she was a hell of a lot bigger than me and she was one of the three managers there.

So we eat, play... and on the way out I requested to talk to another manager and put in my complaint that this woman needs not scream at anyone esp children beings this place is designed for CHILDREN.

I may be wrong for addressing the matter, maybe not. But sorry... If im standing right there next to my child and he does something wrong, even if I am preoccupied and just don't see it, INFORM ME! A stranger does NOT need to be correcting my children in that manner.

I would have needed to hear the tone and verbiage that the lady used towards your son to fully asses the rightness or wrongness of your reaction.

Welld done for doing that!

I would've done the same..

Shows how well yr children are brought too..!!

You were right Frisky..

read what she said! does it matter the tone? For one she raised her voice at my child and also threw a curse word in there to boot. I wouldn't have cared if she whispered it, she cursed at my child.

seriously though, if you're that confident in your decision to speak up, why ask us if you were right or wrong?

I think it does matter the tone, and how high the voice was raised. Was the place quiet like a church before he started playing the drums on that pole? Was her voice booming and did everyone stop and stare at your son?

What was the curse word?

"Quiten down you little shit!"

?

Place wasn't quiet, he didn't bang on any pole, and yes she raised her voice to an uncomfortable level for me.

Maybe I was just in a pissy mood because my car went back in the shop, I was horny and stuck in some damn pizza joint listening to 20+ children run around and the ding ding ding of machines in the background... I dunno

Xcuse me

Then maybe we should also have 'coke whore forum' and a 'I'm pussy whipped forum' also a 'look at me I am an asshole forum'

whadda ya think ;)

I did what I did, at that moment im not even sure the tone I used. Seemed like the entire line went silent though. It sparked me up and I said what I had to say, I don't regret standing up for my son and my self at all but maybe I should have took two deep breaths or smoked a blunt before bursting out. LOL!

What I am asking is really, would you have handled the situation the same or just allowed some stranger to scream at your child for no reason at all?

sounds reasonable
though a double bicep pose would have shut her up

I was about to pull up the slacks and do a quad flex, but I couldn't get them up that high. I however did giggle my bum walking a way ;)

1) I'd have to say that the lady would have had no right or reason to treat customers that way IF that's all your little demon seed was doing.

2) Why do you have to ask us?

3) Why do you think all of this negative energy follows you around all the time? Is this restaurant owned by the oil industry?

There is somthing that comes out when your child is involved that makes us very protective and say things or do things we might not do if it was just us...I understand this completly

Sure, you did OK, but I'm having a hard time believing ANYONE would say that to just one "clank" in a crowded children infested place. The places I go to are so loud, you can't even HEAR that clank.

Seems fishy to me and I'll just call you a lying whore. jk But seriously, that is a wierd reaction the girl gave.

and no one should EVER curse at a child that they DON'T EVEN KNOW for that matter. wtf?

*note to self** Change your mind about wanting to move down south and enjoy friendlier people.

Well, seems said chicka was having a bad day, maybe had a headache or something ... not sure. But yea, it was one clank... pretty loud due to the metal in his splint hitting against the ss bar though. But not done purposly to irritate anyone.

I don't run into this often, besides young kids working at fast food resturants or places like this that make little to no money and are pissed at the world.

LOL

i believe its an EF curse actually....

No the resturant isn't owned by the oil industry... well... maybe so.. not sure..

I wanted to ask dammit, now shush

*note* none of the above answers are in order.

Thanks

Frisky, who do you actually get along with?

she gets along with guys, she doesnt like girls cause they are so moody and disagreeable, but shes different so she doesnt fit into that crowd and thus choses to have mostly guy friends

No I totally agree with your reaction. So called grown ups are usually the worst!! My son gets embarrased sometimes because I also will not hesitate to speak up no matter who it is! Wal-mart, well there is always the stupid fat ass that wants to ram her buggy in the back of us or just bump into you...I tell my son "watch out ___ the adults in her are so rude and they will run you down" loud enough for them to hear me. I will not put up with ANYONE messing with my child...I am not real intemidating looking either...all 5'3 of me. I just don't care when it comes to my child. Neither should you....no apologies needed..PERIOD!

***Another note to self*** DEFINATELY don't move to Louisiana.

chick overreacted, you did great. have more faith in your own conditions, you wont go too far wrong

(unless you say something unflattering about me, in which case... )

I agree 100%. It sounds like you were standing up for your child and that's what a good mom would do.

keep perpetuating the "Rebel without a Clue" attitude. pretty soon, you'll be able to stand up in a court of law, testifying on said child's sterling character.

You were 100% in the right.

People who do not like children need to stay away from jobs where they will encounter them. Unless, of course, we are talking about priesthood....

i disagree. kids need to learn boundaries. Frisky is a bad momma....

If the child was jumping around out of control...yep she was wrong..kinda....BUT he did nothing...she was not wrong

LOL I know you are fucking with us.

Boundaries? It is one thing to "correct a child" by humilitating him for something that he wasn't doing wrong to begin with and teaching a child boundaries. The woman had issues and clearly should not have been working at that place where TONS of rugrats run amuck all day long.

I would last about 3 seconds in one of those places and then for damned sure DYFUS would be investigating me. This time rightfully so. LMFAO

I take my sister's kids out all the time. They are 9, 8 and 6 years old. I NEVER raise my voice. It is enough for me to raise my brows. It is the same when I am with my own children which would stand to reason as mine are much older.

it depends. if it was some teen or early 20's type person, well, they should have a written and wax sealed letter with the insignia of their eldest family member before addressing anyone over 30. just because most people under 30 never say anything i would ever want to hear. secondly, if it was said "young person" i would ask, to which pimple am i speaking at? usually young people clench up in my presence because i am a daddy figure, regardless of lineage, and they always seem to put on their indoors voice when i'm about. although, crotchety old people can be just as bad. i know this because that's what i am training for. i already have a few "get off my lawn" speeches....

Honestly, I pretty much get along with anyone that breaths. I guess you'd have to have met me to notice that but there are others to attest to the way interact with people. Ones that I have met thru the years. Im not a hard person to get along with... hell not even for my beau... I cook, clean, do laundry, serve dinner, set the table, clean the dishes, and even wake the entire family up with breakfast in bed sometimes.

I am sure most here think I am a bitch, a horrible mother and a horrible person.. but ya know, all that matters in life is that those that I love know that I love them and do anything and everthing to protect them, provide for them and be there when they need me.

Listen, I wouldn't allow anyone to yell at any family member like that...but I still think it's dumb for you to ask. You did the right thing...fuck that turd. As far as being pussy whipped goes, I see this chick once every 3 weeks...and I'm getting bored (not a challenge anymore).

All this coming from the lady who mentions beau, my boyfriend's cock, might be getting married at least 1 out of every 1.4 posts.

I do still  u though.

My Mom would of given me a right cross, even if I was justified in making disturbing sounds to the patrons, she is a wonderful woman.

LOLOL....I was talking to Ht..asking him when he is crabby old man will he be talking to his neighbors the way that he talks to you......

I thought you ate chilly yesterday

No matter what the circumstance, I don't like people to correct my children in front of me. If they have a problem, and I am there, then they need to tell me directly. Anyone who thinks otherwise does not have children.

I think you were correct in your action and handled it perfectly.

With that being said, I will correct someones child if I beleive they are behaving inapporpriately and there is no parent around but I would try to do it in a firm but polite manner.

wtf? is she stupid or something?

LOL I'd have you tied up and taking advantage of you nightly if I were her.

as far as marriage, well... sure its discussed, but for me its no damn rush, been there done that and have the left over bills to prove it. I don't put much on that paper work besides if kids are involved.

I still  you tuts, even though you don't even make contact anymore. ;)

well, hadn't he apoligized to her for his actions I would have been all over him. He was there standing with the deer in the headlights look, didn't even know what it was he did to warrent such screaming at him by her. Still he said I'm sorry ma'm I didn't realize i hit the bar so hard. Now don't get me wrong my children are not poster children and they have their faults, try to test me and other family members, but as far as being very respectful to strangers... thats one thing I can say they are.
